If your engine is hot when you check your oil, the oil expands (as do all liquids when heated) and will show high.
Also, if the jeep is parked even slightly uphill, oil will show higher than it really is, parked downhill is reverse.
Any possibility of those conditions?
If it's the #4 bolt, I'm pretty sure it's one of the short ones.
You might take one of the others to the hardware store and see if you can find one with the same threading and specs. You'd be surprised.
Looks overfilled to me.
FYI: make sure you're on level ground. If the jeep is parked downhill, it will look low when it isn't. If it's parked uphill, it will look high when it isn't.
So much for going to the dealership as a source for every nut, bolt and fastener on the vehicle. I'll remember this the next time someone asks where they can get "obscure part x" and I tell them "The Dealership".
Apparently not. What the hell is up with a dealership that can't tell you...
Iridiums... isn't there some info around here suggesting that the KJ can't provide enough juice on the spark with the iridiums?
And weren't we trying to figure out why your jeep got 10mpg? Could there be a link?
X2. Just read the forums. People might have more or less trouble with many systems attached TO the 3.7 engine, but the engine itself is a good platform. As long as there's oil in it, that is.:smokin:
Sorry to hear it Vranes. I guess that noise your heard in that other thread really did mean that the damage had been done.
I remember cringing when I read your original message. Good luck. My opinion: Throw in a new/reman'd/used engine and get 175,000 miles out of your truck.
Frankly...
FWIW kbb reports mine as worth about $8300 for "good condition" on private party resale. Mine is an '04 sport with 90,000.
I feel that $8300 is a bit high, especially given the economy right now.
kbb describes "good condition" as thus:
Mine certainly has no "major defects". The paint...
Because I've never suffered the indignity of changing my filter from below (what's next, drinking beer directly from the can?!!) I don't know how hard it is. It's up above that cross member and the little oil spillway thingamabobber? The drain plug is easy because it's right down there in...
All I know is that monster shroud is ugly... it blocks off pretty much everything on the front of the block. Man, what, when you change your oil I guess you come up from below to change the filter? How uncivilized.
Wha?!! Did they change fan shrouds halfway through the production year? My '04 jeep fan shroud is about 2" deep?
Here's an '06 engine bay which is almost exactly like mine. Note the significant amount of working room.
edit:
But check this out. This picture claims to be the...
