So I kind of knew this was coming...
I just changed the rear disks and pads on my '05 Renegade (39k miles). The pads were completely gone and the disks were disintegrating. The only machined portions left was about a 3/4 " band part way around the disk. I can't believe that it stopped at all or didn't make a racket. The total...- brucebotti

Problem Changing Fluid in Transfer Case
I like the way you think.....we must be related!:) I'll have to try some of the suggestions. It's strange that the allen key seats about 3/8" into the drain plug, but only about 3/16" into the fill plug. It almost looks like the fill plug is defective. I'll keep you guys posted...- brucebotti

What power upgrades do you recomend?

How much have you towed with your manual tranny?
The Libby I just purchased for towing is an automatic, but I do have a lot of experience towing with a Dakota v-6 manual, which is pretty close to the Libby in towing capacity. The limiting factor is to make sure that the weight of the trailer does not exceed the weight of your tow vehicle...- brucebotti

I looked at the U-Haul hitch. It says that it is class III, but it is 350 tongue / 3500 total weight. It is 500 / 5000 with weight distribution. This would certainly be enough for me. Thanks for the info. I guess where I was confused, was when I read that API spec GL-5 was needed. I looked at the dino gear oil I had, and it said GL-5, so I thought I was all set. I'm going to let it sit on the shelf, and go out and get synthetic with the GL-5 spec. Bruce- brucebotti

Thanks to everyone for the information. I guess that Advance Auto had the wrong listing for the 2005 (it had 15 holes - 45RFE?). I just picked up the one listed for a 2006 and it has 13 holes, so should be the correct one for the 2005 - 42RLE. Unfortunately, the correct one was $31.99 versus...- brucebotti
