Generally speaking you dont want copper to be directly on aluminum without corrosion protection. the ground straps are not copper where they touch the aluminum and therefore totally fine.
No problem with grounding from to or through aluminum in general, the issue is galvanic corrosion created...
I had one of the wheel sensor wires rub against the tire and start shorting. It did all kinds of weird things, and the code it ended up throwing was for steering angle comparative which sent me down a nightmare rabbit hole with the clockspring. luckily I got some advice about this before I...
repeated flushing with plain water and then install the zerex G05.
Im in the "use the OEM spec" camp. You might be able to get away with using whatever "universal", but as a chemical engineer and industrial maintenance planner, I see situations like this backfire on the regular and it usually...
yes, whenever you drive the jeep, the front diff spins because there is nothing decoupling it from the tires.
In days of yore 4 wheel drives had locking hubs on the front wheels, but our jeeps do not have these so they are always engaged.
I would be looking into the driveshaft you added as...
I used the service manual parts diagrams to figure out what part #'s I needed in order to upgrade to HD cooling.
as I understand you cannot simply swap electric to clutch and call it good.
Here is a short list of what I used to do it (sorry no part #'s):
new mechanical fan clutch and blade...
I got the carhart fitted seat covers after having them in a work truck. they are the best, and super durable. 4 years and dozens of trips through the washing machine and they are still just like new.
pretty much.
I did the econo lift (aka mudds lift) and my suspension was so saggy before I got more like 5" out of it all said and done.
My tires rubbed on the swaybar near lock really bad so I installed some hub adapters ("spacers"). Pushing the wheels out that extra inch on each side...
I like the lift and my tire size is pretty close.
Beat the pinch weld down and use a heat gun to chop up and reshape the fender liners. You can even use a flat scraper and torch to weld the plastic a little. Get the scraper red hot with the torch and then press it down flat on the plastic to...
Every time I have seen someone troubleshooting problems caused by a new straight through exhaust and they come to the conclusion they don't have enough back pressure (backfiring, carbon builup, whatever the symptoms) they end up discovering that it was something else wrong, and the new straight...
fingers crossed.
I hope this works out for you as 4.10's have been on my list for a long time and more options are always better.
Thanks for being the guinea pig here too, it's not easy being the one to go against the grain and take risk doing it.
I have been watching for a while now as well.
Even to the point if i see another 1st gen liberty that is mostly stock I look to see what badging/engine it has.
Even being on the lookout for years locally, I have only seen 2 or 3 4 cylinder liberty's in the wild, never seen one in a junkyard...
I just replaced the entire LCA with a new one with new bushings in it.
sure, I could have spent half as much and just changed the bushings, but I didnt even have to think about how to get them out/in. My old lca were already aftermarket so not like I was loosing some mopar durability or anything.
before I lifted mine, I scraped the air dam off the front bumper playing around in the rocks. Suspension had sagged a lot so I was dragging on the ridge between ruts on some trails too.
I like it better without it. The bumper looks cleaner and I can use the old tow bar bracket previous owner...
I am fairly well equipped tools/knowledge/will power wise and this is one of the few jobs that has me asking the same question.
I have helped others do them on larger truck axles, but some years ago now.
Getting the pinion depth and gear mesh just right is every bit as challenging as getting...
I shop the junkyard and ebay mostly, there are usually a few on ebay. Something like a valve cover is relatively reliable to go used on as long as it isn't damaged.
Mine leaked at the crimps.
I just tied the radiator cooler inline with the external cooler.
There is a how to on here somewhere. Ima search and be back
EDIT: couldnt find a how to, I thought I followed one with pictures but if I cannot find it that wont help you much. I did find this...
I replaced the entire lines with the jeep sitting on the ground no problem.
was not that hard really, just a little twisting and turning and cussing and swearing and they were in.
Biggest pita is if you loose one of the clips like I did and end up buying a new $15 fitting just to get the clip...
