    Problem with my EVIC

I have identified a small problem with the EVIC I installed on Sunday--it's not saving all the settings I select in Menu, such as "Unlock on Exit" and "Autolock Doors." I set both menu items to YES yesterday, but they both reverted back to NO overnight. It seems to save all other settings, and...

HOW TO: Install an EVIC or OTIS (overhead computer)

Thanks for all the info, guys. I successfully installed my EVIC over the weekend. There were only a few catches. First, I discovered that I, too, have 4.5mm / 7/32 hex screws holding the A pillar in place. I ran all over the place (frantically--it was Sunday at 6 p.m.) until I found a deep...

HOW TO: Install an EVIC or OTIS (overhead computer)

Seems like this topic has already been beaten to death, but I have a question that's not really answered above. Many of the posts address whether non-KJ EVICs will show ambient temperature on a 2004+ Liberty. I haven't seen anyone discussing pre-2004 KJs. I have a 2003, and I just purchased...

HOW TO: Add a light over the back seat (02-04KJ)

Okay, but how did you mount the light to the headliner? The light shown earlier in the thread had special clips for mounting above the headliner. The light you used from up front has those clips that pop into the mounting plate on the roof. (dunno)

HOW TO: Install an EVIC or OTIS (overhead computer)

I just got the EVIC without TPMS I bought off eBay. It has the pigtail, so I'm all set re: wiring. BUT I'm wondering now whether it's possible to just replace the plastic bezel/light assembly? The one I bought has the single sunroof switch. I don't have a sunroof (and I'm not really...

An $800 Day at the Dealer

That's something I've been thinking about myself. I have to go home and review the terms of the warranty.

An $800 Day at the Dealer

I took my KJ in to the dealer today to have them look at two issues: a creaking sound coming from the front left wheel, and a clicking sound in the steering column. The creak is coming from a bad wheel hub (~$450 w/labor), and the clicking sound is from a bad clock spring (~$350 w/labor). Do...

HOW TO: Add a light over the back seat (02-04KJ)

Hey, Bennett, I know you tried fishing that wire over to the EVIC, without much success, but I was wondering if you tried getting it to the light over the rear cargo area? Seems like it might be just as difficult as getting it up front. I was also wondering if Blu ever did this upgrade to...

    KJ in the shop...

I agree--a quality body shop can do AMAZING work. I was driving my wife's 6-week old 2003 GC when I got t-boned by a guy who ran a stop sign. The initial repair estimate was $12,500! The final bill was > $13,000. From the day we took it home, you would have never known it had been in an...

How did you first find your KJ?

A year after we had a baby, and just as I was preparing to graduate from law school, we decided to move from the city (Chicago) to the suburbs. We had managed for 6 six years with just one car in the city, so we figured we would be alright. We were okay for the summer because I was mostly...

HOW TO: Install an EVIC or OTIS (overhead computer)

I've got my eye on an EVIC from a 2003 Libby. It's got a pig tail, but I assume I'll need to fabricate a wire loom. Does anyone know what gauge wire is used on these? AWG 18? And do you know if it's solid or stranded? Oh, one other thing, someone posted this question earlier in the...

    This site is dangerous!

I tend to bounce back and forth between obsessive hobbies. I'm constantly home-improving, so that's my typical weekend obsession. Lately I've been all about my home theater system, and wiring my house for sound (four rooms inside, plus the deck and separate hot-tub area outside). Since I live...

Question related to ball joint recall

I had mine done in November just after the recall was issued (hadn't even gotten my notice yet). I took my Libby to the dealer because my part-time was having trouble disengaging (problem was related to unmatched tires). Anyhoo, they told me they did the recall. Two days later, while pulling...

    This site is dangerous!

That's funny. I actually gave my wife a Coach purse for Christmas (biggest mistake I ever made?), and while she thought I was being generous, I was really just laying the ground work for spending money on stuff I want. \:D/

    This site is dangerous!

So I came across this forum a couple weeks ago when I was looking for some assistance removing the battery on my 2003 KJ. And now I can't stop coming back! I used to be happy with my little KJ Sport. I had added fogs, but I wasn't really thinking about any other upgrades. Suddenly, I find...

    Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO Review

I, too, am running with the Revo's. I put them on my '03 a couple months ago after spinning out on ice while driving on 2 original tires and 2 Firestone Destination LE's. The difference is almost indescribable. These tires have never once slipped on me. NOT ONCE! We had a big rain storm 2...

Anyone else get a whine in cold weather?

I get the same whine from my KJ, which is ~200 miles from 50K. My wife freaked out a little when she drove it to work last week (due to snow). I'm so accustomed to the sound in cold weather that I don't even notice it anymore. It goes away after 2-3 minutes of idle.
