    Need front pads- reuse rotors?

Rotors from the "old days" had a lot of extra material, and you could get 1-2 machinings till they were down to minimum spec. Current day rotors don't have much extra and are pretty much down to spec once the pads are gone. With no grooves in the rotors, many times I have sanded the surface with...

Brighter Lights for Dark Sky Ordinances in Arizona and Riverside County

HID = Helps If Drunk, you didn't know that? :happy175: I agree, that drunk as a Sailor reasoning is ludicrous. If you are so blind drunk that you can't keep the car between the lines, being able to spot a telephone pole more off to the side a little sooner isn't going to keep a blind person on...

Help!! Jeep is making a bad noise.

Intermediate shaft, which is on the passenger side. See if the inner cv joint has a lot of up and down play when pushing on it. Mine acted the same way you're describing, as the connection between the shaft and cv hub reacts differently when under a load (in 4wd).

(More Jeep problems) But here is the serious one

Membership to the window regulator club is ever expanding. I fixed my right rear one this spring, here is what goes bad: Steiger Performance - Jeep Liberty Power Window Regulator Repair Kit You can find the part cheaper on ebay, made by others, which is what I did. Stay with a metal one, not...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I'm really surprised the Harbor Freight winch bashing hasn't yet started on you. :happy175:

    oil loss

What TC said about the cat converter. Oil loss can be an external leak, but with the amount you're talking about, you should be seeing a trail and puddle. The other option is a worn out engine with sloppy rings, valve guides/seals that's burning the oil. There's no other magical way the oil...

    Parts Geek Recent Order

I know it's their error on the website, they should clearly make it right without question. Did you at least go "hmmmmm", when you see the Dorman arm is $109.98, the Mevotech is $126.33, but the Mopar arm shows $58.33? "Hot dog, did I get a deal"!!! ;)

    Tire Size Help

I have a 5 speed and barely felt a difference in performance, but SOME will say it's my imagination. lol I use 5th gear all the time on the highway (50+ mph) with absolutely no issues. Now, if I lived in a mountain area instead of the flatlands of IL, then yes I'd be spending less time in 5th...

    Gas spillback

No need to knock on wood, the affected Liberty's are the 2005-09 models. If math serves me correctly, 2004 comes before that. :happy175:

    Gas spillback

Way more models than what they show there are affected. In the link uss2defiant posted above, on page 2 I posted the TSB Chrysler issued. Here it is again: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/ACM18279902/INRD-PE10032-45586P.pdf

    03 3.7 strange over-heating issue(OBDII figures in post)

Apples and oranges. No issues here, mine heats up at a normal rate, similar to many other vehicles I've had in the past. The differences are: 1) You're at a much higher altitude than I am. An engine can easily lose up to 3% of it's rated power for every 1,000 feet of elevation. 2) Your rig...

    03 3.7 strange over-heating issue(OBDII figures in post)

As I see it, with a cold engine overheating in 4 miles, blaming the thermostat is barking up the wrong tree. I can drive mine a good 10 minutes before the engine gets anywhere near running temperature. And up until that time, the thermostat is still closed, or mostly closed. For reference, say...

    Renegade roof light lens covers

Good luck finding used ones. I've been driving mine for years with no covers, because they are as rare as unicorns. Luckily, the cops in my area aren't dicks about it, are you not so lucky in VA? lol I once made my own out of thin dark plastic film, cut larger than the light opening, and tucking...

    What is this?

It's a plastic cap that protects the schrader valve on the AC line from gathering crud, same as a valve stem cap on a wheel. Only needs to be tight enough that it doesn't rattle off.

Remove pilot bearing on shaft with engine swap??

It's a bearing, not a bushing. When I did my clutch job, I used the bearing puller that Autozone has in their free tool rental. This guy: Pilot Bearing Puller Attachment for Cars, Trucks & SUVs I've used the grease/dowel/hammer trick to remove a pilot bushing before, but I don't see that working...

    Them's The Brakes

Time to clear up some stuff, lol. The above shows drum brakes, as in what my 02 has. The disc brake parking brake assembly drawing posted doesn't show a self adjuster at the star wheel, because it doesn't have one. Initial adjustment is made manually at the wheels; with e-brake off, adjust the...

Does Dino gear oil have a shelf life?

Use the oil, it's fine. Service life is what trashes the oil, not sitting on a shelf....unless it's in an open (to the elements) container.
