I don't care if jeep makes this ugly looking pile. I care that they name it "Cherokee". They should have continued it as 3rd gen liberty....not like the liberties have ever lived up to the 17 years that the cherokee was produced, for the simple fact that they're a totally different animal. they're already independent, and they were built for similar purposes.

They are naming it "Cherokee" for the simple fact that they are hoping the name will sell it, because the looks won't.

Hate to say it but Cherokee = Liberty!

And I just don't like the platform it's on. I actually think it looks ALRIGHT. I like the mechanics of it. Sounds like the V6 will push a good amount of power. 9-Speed transmission I could live without.

i just want to see what the aftermarket comes up for it like ARB

There will be no aftermarket. There is hardly anything for the Liberty and look what is out there for the Patriot and Compass... Pretty much nothing. Just another car based monstrosity to sell to the masses of latte sipping yuppie suburbanites who NEED something with 4WD / AWD to get them through harsh big city winters. The sad reality is that that is a much bigger market segment for Jeep than people who want a real honest to goodness off-road vehicle.

I found this picture whilst perusing the interwebz:

The cherokee lasted 17 years on the same platform, with little modification, with only two engine options from 87-01 in the states.

The liberty lasted 02-07 without major mods, then 08-12, and now it's dead.

cherokee>liberty anywhere, anytime.

that's because you're blinded by your employment.

I don't know what you do for jeep, but I'd say that the whole lot of you guys need some serious counseling, and some of you are beyond help.

That thing is a pile.

I've never been banned here, and I'm not about to start now. Just know this, I am keeping my mouth shut to keep both of us active members.

Enjoy your Jeep. I'm sure the KL buyers will enjoy theirs too.

If you don't like this Jeep, why don't you fill out an application and do something about it?

I still don't like it but I no longer hate it. It hasn't progressed past that point. The rear could be fixed rather easily. Move the license plate up to the tailgate. The front end... Uh, no comment.

What is your deal, like come on you have to make everything into a huge argument. Your so full of anger it seems your always putting someone down on multiple forums like LOST jeepforum and here. It's ridiculous like the main reason you joined up was to put people down and acting like your the only authority on Jeeps.

I'm not angry. I have a loving respect for AMC design. and the facts are laid out pretty simply on success...as far as length of production and unit sales, there's no jeep that can touch an XJ. there's not a jeep out there that has seen that length of production without pretty major redesign.

If you think I'm bad here, you should see me on cherokeeforum. those people are absolute idiots, and deserve nothing but what they get from me.

The XJ lived in a different era, where vehicles didn't get make-overs every 2-5 years. The auto market has changed along with the consumer market in general.

I'll have to say that I wish they didn't use the Cherokee moniker, but it is what it is.

I was actually suprised, but I like my KJ better than my old XJ. So I'll have to wait and see what the new kid brings before I complain too much.

Frankly, if you don't like it, don't buy it...it's really quite simple.

yeah.
I myself like the KJ much more interiorwise than an xj. so much taller and roomier, quieter, and stays warmer when parked outside because of better insulation.

My only real problem is how under-powered the 3.7 is vs. the lack of aftermarket support. I could build my 4.0's up to be capable of towing while getting good mileage. I also don't like how stiff the front suspension is for flexing. it rides well, but doesn't flex, which is why I don't even see myself wheeling one.

This cherokee design honestly isn't bad for a DD. but for what the name is vs. what I'm proud of, i'm just offended by it overall. and two grilles and sets of headlights is overkill, and looks silly.

Not the mountains.
I can deal with the front but I felt a puke taste in my mouth when I saw the rear end. Aftermarket needs to help this model badly.

Thanks for the warning.

We don't play that way here. You can share your opinions and whatever you want... but, we don't tolerate the trolling, abuse, flame-throwing, etc. Leave all that BS on the other forums.

Now you know. ;)
