Looking for some opinions. I pulled off my factory air intake tubing to take a look at the throttle body. I am seeing a pretty good amount of build up carbon on it. I just used a paper towel to try and clean it off but it didnt do a great job. In the past I would spray brake cleaner on it and wipe it down really good. Now I am wondering how good of an idea this is to do. Is there any possible damage this can cause? What do you guys use to clean?
thanks

If you're going to use brake cleaner, I'd recommend removing the throttle body and applying the brake cleaner to a rag and wiping instead of just spraying down the intake while it's on top of the block. Brake cleaner can and will degrade rubber and plastic parts and seals, i.e. potentially bad for your engine.

The better answer is just use throttle body cleaner.

seafoam on a rag also works. I despise brake cleaner due to its other properties on rubber, paint, etc.

also saw a link on P4x4 of a guy that used it as a degreaser before welding and regretted it immediately.
