When I start engine then shift into gear (drive or reverse) sometimes ****** slips. My 1st though was too little warm up time, so this past week I've been starting it 10 to 15 min before I leave for work.... Still does it (but not everytime). Fluid level is up and colour is good. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thx in advance

what year is the jeep? If its before 05 you can have a clutch volume index test done on it. This will give an indication if you have internal clutch problems, also you can run codes and see if you have one, some do not set the check engine light. ****** codes are either 700 series or 1700's if chrysler specific. I would not change any fluid or filters until you get to the bottom of this. you dont want this getting worse. good luck

It's an '03. What my hand held ODB2 code reader pull ****** codes?.... I would have try'd if it had tripped a check light on dash. And what is this volume index test you mentioned, and how do I do it or go to have done?

Have a ****** shop do a CV index scan on it. If the numbers are high/out of range (in the hundreds or close to it) then you've got yourself a clutch problem, and it might be time for replacement/rebuild. I don't think it's going to be this because you'll normally get a shudder issue when the clutch starts to go on its way out. Check filter/etc. first. Always do the cheap stuff first!

As was explained earlier, the CVI test is a indicator of ****** health, by running one you can determine the state of your internal clutches. You can pull the ****** codes from using the cars internal odomoter, just turn the key on and off three times with the third time on without the engine running. The codes will pop up on the speedo display where the odo usually is. Even if the cvi does not turn up anything its a good baseline to future issues. The ****** in the liberty in my experience is really reliable and you could not say that about chrysler trannies in general.

There's also a TSB for something to the nature of taking a second or two for engagement. Not sure if it was for the 45 or 42 transmission and since you have an '03 you could have either.

and unless you idle it in N the transmission will not warm up with the engine.

to be clear, if you idle the engine with Transmission in P, the transmission will not warm up.

Filter/fluid change done(didn't drain torque converter). Still slips occasionally (not as much), but when I put it in gear (D or R from Park) it hits real HARD! :(

Did you have a ****** shop pull your CVI numbers? If they're out of range, that can tell you your clutches are going bad (meaning it's time for replacement...:( ) if they are going bad.
