Is there anything I should be doing with this mileage in regards to maintaining my KJ? Anything I should possibly be checking/replacing/etc. based off your guys' experiences with the KJ? I'm just kind of curious, considering I want to make sure this thing lasts the remaining three years I have left on my loan haha. Would it be worth it to bring it to my mechanic and just have them give her a general check up?

From what I've read on here, your water pump might be close to failing.

You bought it used right? Did you get lucky? What I mean is, did you know the prior owner and/or have the service records? That would be lucky. How many miles did it have on it when you got it? Where did you buy it because if the prior owner bought it and had it serviced at the place you bought it, then they should have a service history on the computer.

If you don't know or can't find out then you need to establish a base line. Change the plugs and all the fluids, pcv and air filter. Check your serpentine belt for cracks and if it doesn't look good then replace it. Check/clean the throttle body. Write down the mileage and dates you did it so you will have a reference and know what was done and when you did it. You don't have to do it all at once but you can spread it out over a couple of weekends or whatever.

No sence in changing mechanical parts that are working good just because it has 110K on it. There is no majic mileage number that something will crap the bed. If you do all this routine stuff you should be good. Also you will then know what you did and when and have established your maintenance baseline.

Just my opinion.

PS I might have forgot something but you get the picture.

Mkay, well I don't have the service records at all, and I changed the serpentine belt a couple of months ago. Coolant was also added a little over a month ago. Air filter I've replaced. Bought it at 87k.

What/where exactly is the throttle body, and what is involved in changing the spark plugs (I'm assuming that's what you meant)? And pcv...? What's that? Also, is there any way to check whether a dealer somewhere replaced a part if there was a recall, for example the ball joints? I've checked recall listings, and I thought they usually went by certain digits in the VIN number, but now I can't seem to find anything. How do I know if something on it was recalled?

Anyway, there's a bunch more random questions there--just trying to make sure I'm taking care of the old girl xD

I'm pretty sure there's a How To on the spark plugs.....should be close to the top.

There IS a "how to" about changing spark plugs and there's even a link to a video on youtube. It's REALLY helpful as I used it to guide me when I changed the plugs this summer. If you can't find it, just go to youtube and type in "jeep liberty spark plugs" and it should come up. The throttle body helps regulate air flow into the engine, you find it at the end of the hose leading from your airbox to the engine. I'm pretty sure the spark plug video shows you where/what it is. You can also call your local Dodge/Jeep dealer, give them the VIN and they can check if the ball joint recall was performed on your vehicle.

Hey Gal - Go to this site http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/ & in the left hand corner @ START HERE - ABOUT MY VEHICLE, go down to where it says RECALLS & enter the last 8 digits of your VIN. It will advise you if the recalls were performed.
