This guy on Ebay is selling what he is calling non-Mopar Navigation Disc based on the latest Mopar disc. What do you guys think? Is this just a copy of the Mopar disc? Is he a scammer?

Thats interesting, wonder if he figuresd out how to make copies of the original, also notice that under condition he lists it as used, or perhaps even some beta versions that were used for testing purposes

I wonder if the original disc is DVD5 or DVD9 (single or dual layer). Even if its dual layer, if you burn on +R media with bitsetting, you can fool the burned disc into thinking its an original DVD-ROM. If it's a DVD5 disc, anyone with a dvd burner that supports bitsetting should be able to burn a test copy to see if it works, on a cheap piece of media. If it's a DVD9, the medias still a bit more expensive..........

From the Auction:

Q: is it a burned copy of the mopor dvd? what brand is it
A: This is an archival/backup copy of an original Mopar disc. It functions perfectly.

Q: what is the partnumber? thanks
A: There is no part number. This is a non-Mopar (generic) disc. It is the equivalent of the OEM disc from 2006.

Please note that the disc shown is a factory disc for illustration purposes only. Your disc will come packaged in a jewel case.

I would suggest NOT buying this disc. This seller is making money by selling burned copies of software. If you're going to steal copies of software, just steal them, don't let somebody else profit from it.

Link to eBay policy on unauthorized copies: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html, which specifically references "Backup" or "archival" copies of software programs as being against the policy (and against the law)

Also - the seller has only 1 feedback rating, so it's a risky buy - you may never see anything from them, especially if their first auction is for a product deemed to be against eBay policy.

Same should apply to Factory Service Manual copies on eBay, but at least they aren't stupid enough to advertise that they are unauthorized copies.

I tried to make a backup of my RB1 disc. It copied OK, but it didn't work in the RB1. It knew it was a copy.
