    Ironman 4x4 Kit for $525 - starting a build

No one is arguing you shouldn't use bump stops. I'm arguing you don't need extended length bump stops with this particular setup. If I installed 2" of hockey pucks per the recommendation of this thread, I'd have <1.5" of travel before they're engaged

    Ironman 4x4 Kit for $525 - starting a build

I'm trying to figure out why everyone seems to have this opinion when no one can defend it

    Ironman 4x4 Kit for $525 - starting a build

So the assumption is you'll take a "lifted" truck off-road but not a stock one? Otherwise, wouldn't stock be more prone to damage? I put "lifted" in quotes because, for this kit at least, it doesn't seem like the shocks/springs are much different in length (see my post above). The lift occurs...

    Ironman 4x4 Kit for $525 - starting a build

Right. So why does he think stiffer springs warrant longer bump stops if they're less likely to fully compress than stock?

Agreed. So you think a higher spring rate increases the likelihood of fully compressing the shock?

FWIW, the components don't appear to be 2" longer than stock, and those springs are sagged (100k miles)

Man, that’s a great deal. I recently installed the exact same kit on my 03 liberty and left everything else stock. I called Ironman to confirm I don’t need extended bump stops and they said “if it’s not included in the kit you don’t need it.” So far, they were right.

Max tire size with Ironman 4x4 1.5" lift?

I assume you‘re mentioning backspacing/offset due to the potential for tire stuffing, but that shouldn’t be an issue since I run the stock aluminum wheels with 235/70 tires. Do you think upgrading to 245/70 would change the calculus here? Of the jeeps you own, I’m most interested in your...

Max tire size with Ironman 4x4 1.5" lift?

So you disagree with my reasoning? How much space do you have between your plate/bump stop?

Max tire size with Ironman 4x4 1.5" lift?

Hmm, according to this KYB shock's specs, the KJ's stock ****** length is 7.88". While I can't find the exact ****** length for the Ironman 12712GR, I assume it's probably similar. Ironman's documentation states "bump stops must intervene by at least half their thickness before the shock...

Max tire size with Ironman 4x4 1.5" lift?

@Bigfootyetti Out of curiosity, did you install any hockey pucks in the rear? Ironman told me the stock jounce bumps should be fine.

Should I push for spring replacements if the powdercoating is slightly damaged?

I never bought springs before, and mine arrived from Ironman4x4 slightly damaged. Should I push for replacements, or will they be getting damaged soon enough anyways? Thanks!
