Here's what the NHTSA has to say about it:
"With respect to motor vehicle recalls, manufacturers should encourage their franchise dealers to ensure that the manufacturer's used vehicles have all applicable recall work completed before resale to the public."
A couple of weeks ago, I was pulling out of my driveway(1000 ft long) and the left-hand lower ball joint snapped. Thank GOD I wasn't cruising down the expressway when it happened. I had it towed to the dealer for repair. It wasn't the dealer I bought it from though. I have 2 2003 liberty's...
I've had both of mine for about 3-4 months now and they both get between 17.5 and 19.5 mpg. Usually right at 18mpg. 3.7L gas '03 libbies.
I wouldn't care if they got 10mpg. I'd still love them!
I have the same thing in both of my Libertys. I just had it at the dealer and they told me that is is from moisture. They said it is pretty common in the 3.7L motor in our area(because of the weather), because of the location of the filler neck. I had them change the oil and they added some...
I've got the bug deflectors on both of my '03s. They don't seem to do much to deflect anything, including bugs, rocks, and water. I just like the way they look, so I'm keeping them.

NEW HERE!
I bought my first liberty 3 months ago. Fell in love with it from day one. It's an '03 Atlantic Blue. Went back a month later and bought a second one. '03 Cactus green. Still haven't got one bad thing to say about them. The mileage even seems fair for the amount of power you get.
