    4100 insurance dollars later.

I hope all is well. Don't kid yourself. Those are your dollars, you just gave them to the insurance crooks to hold until you wrecked your car.

    Oil Pan Corrosion

I finished the JB Weld oil pan band-aid this past weekend. So far, so good! I needed to drain all of the oil and clean the outer surface pretty well because I saw that oil could seep right through the uncured JB Weld. It was actually leaving small paths which the oil could continue to leak...

Hard starting when the temp is 90+

I use an ELM-327 bluetooth -> OBD-II interface along with the Torque-pro app on an Android powered device. I find that it works reasonable well and allows me to view many different monitoring screens. More information on Torque can be found here: http://torque-bhp.com/

To the OP: Sorry about the thread-jacking. I did enjoy your video and your epic caching adventure. I'd love to continue the argument, but this is not the right thread for that.

Well, it certainly isn't a motorcycle or truck or plane. So what's left?

    Playing at Huron National Forest

I think I have a bad attitude after many old pre-Chrysler Jeeps. My typical statements go something like ... "Doesn't matter, it's just a freakin' Jeep, not like it's a nice car or anything". But then again, I'm still not crazy about my KJ. I probably just bought the wrong car.

I put 'Nancys' first scratches on her the day I bought her. Same deal, a narrow spot with lots of large branches. After getting through I stopped and cheered.

We've been using 'Nancy' for our recent GeoCaching adventures also. It's good to see that I'm not the only geek around here.

    02 overheating

Yep, same symptoms on mine. Troubleshooting was a little rough because when the fan motor was cool, the fan would run just fine. I had pulled both relays and was jumpering across the NO contacts to test. Both speeds work perfectly unless I let the temp rise in the engine compartment. Then the...

    02 overheating

My '04 was overheating due to a bad electric radiator fan. The fan would run fine when cool enough, but would not start once things got above 200 degrees or so.

    Ding Ding Door is open

I did get it working again for now. I loosened the three bolts holding the latch in place to try and ease any torque that may have been on it. I then followed that up with alternating PB Blaster and silicon spray lubricant everywhere I could get a small nozzle tube into. The idea was to try and...

    Ding Ding Door is open

I didn't have enough tools or ambition to take it all apart on the road yesterday. I will dig into it a bit deeper today, but first I have some maintenance to do on other cars. I could not see any broken pieces, and I could rotate the latch from open to the fully latched position with a...

    Ding Ding Door is open

Some pics of Corona Pass Starting out: A place for a picnic: Stopping for pictures: These are not big enough rocks to break things! If you're interested in the rest of the pics ( it's a pretty place, but not many pics of the Jeep ), look here...

    Ding Ding Door is open

We hit the next random stupid failure in the KJ yesterday. We were driving up Corona Pass which is basically a 2wd with ground clearance kind of road. It is pretty rocky in places, so there's a lot of bumping and bouncing going on. About halfway up I hear the dreaded Ding and notice that...
