02 Liberty 3.7L Petrol Died, Cranks No Start

So the jeep made it through the day w/out stalling, so I think the CPS and CKP have corrected the issue. On to the next step - I live in the middle of Australia, usually takes a week to get next day mail. The Jeep has stranded my wife/kids four times now (water pump, valve spring, CPS/CKP x...

02 Liberty 3.7L Petrol Died, Cranks No Start

So I've done the CKP now. I did the same 10 mile circuit that I did after changing the CPS and no issues. I'll take the jeep to work tomorrow and see how a longer trip goes. I did not do the plugs but I will this weekend as a precaution. No load test on the battery, 12.5v engine off, 14.5v...

02 Liberty 3.7L Petrol Died, Cranks No Start

Ok, so I changed out the CPS. Same condition, jeep stalls, tach going crazy with engine not running, fuel pump cycling...PO320 code - CPS. I put a MOPAR unit in. I will do the CKP tonight. Any thoughts? How do I check the computer (PCM)? Getting desperate. Thanks, Tom

02 Liberty 3.7L Petrol Died, Cranks No Start

Started up fine this morning, seemed to burn off the gas for 5min or so then ran clean. Code is a 0725. Started again an hour later, still running a little rough but code hasn't returned. I'll start with the CPS and go from there unless advised otherwise.

02 Liberty 3.7L Petrol Died, Cranks No Start

3.7L petrol, 130k miles. Liberty died while driving home. It would start and run as long as I feathered the gas. One mile down the road it died again. With it in neutral and ignition on (engine not running) the tach was erratic and I could hear something under the hood. I opened the hood, still...

2002 KJ Valve Springs - Advice

Thanks for the video link CactusJacked. My spring broke on #4 intake and I had a tough time re-installing the retainers. I do have a spring tool similar to the one in the video. It didn't appear feasible to replace the springs on 5 and 6 given the retainer problems I had on 4 and the...

2002 KJ Valve Springs - Advice

Thanks dakar650 I will contact hopperheads for a quote. I focused on companies in Adelaide. I have not heated my motor but I purchased with 200,000kms. Other than the broken spring I haven't had any issues. I do not have the FSM. Thanks, Tom

2002 KJ Valve Springs - Advice

Repair or Replace After reading a few valve spring threads after my original post, it may come down to $1800 to recon my heads plus hg's and bolts or buy another set. Does anyone have recommendations for new or reconditioned heads? I can ship mine as cores via APO. Also, if I go the...

2002 KJ Valve Springs - Advice

I purchased my Liberty (Cherokee in AUS) last November with 130k miles, 3.7L petrol. Last month I broke a valve spring. A quick google search indicated that this was a common problem on the 3.7L. I've replace the spring with the head on the car and everything works well now. My dilemma...

    2002 KJ Bull Bar

4x4 is correct, ARB wanted 2000Aud (full bumper and bar). Probably better protection but out of my budget. The insurance should cover what the bar doesn't. Thanks for prompt replies. Tom

    2002 KJ Bull Bar

There's an OEM "Jeep KJ" bull bar for sale which I'd like to purchase for my 02 KJ as we have a lot of kangaroos out here. Were the OEM units a direct bolt on? Thanks, Tom
