Just thought I'd post an update to this story as I ended up doing all the work myself and it passed the out of province safety this week so I have my 'BC' Liberty back on the roads. I'm very happy, as I nearly scrapped the vehicle when I had the $3600 quote to repair it. In the end, the heater...
It's an 03 but its been oil sprayed every year so not very rusty for its age. 205,000 kms. I've done a fair bit of servicing to it and replaced a fair number of parts. It just drove the 5000 km out to BC and did not miss a beat!
I moved to British Columbia from Ontario and it failed the out of province safety, although one or two of the things do seem a little silly like a rip in the seat cover is considered a safety hazard, yet the roads we drive on here have deer, bears, and snow that seems far more like a real...
Just thought I'd update the post and mention my 03 Jeep Liberty towing Tab teardrop trailer made it to BC in 8 days covering around 4500km's with no issues. I estimated the fuel cost to be about $750 which did not seem too bad as the trailer pulled is 1500lbs plus it and the car were fairly...
I am attaching a photo here. I noticed I was leaking some cooling fluid under the car and the plastic where the fluid is here has a small hairline crack in it that is weeping this fluid when it is under pressure. I have not lost that much fluid at the expansion bottle but its definitely an issue...
Just posting an update on what was the issue. Although lubricating the shift cable mechanism seemed to help for a while, I had to take the car to a transmission specialist and have the transmission dropped so they could replace the shaft and seal that is connected to the linkage cable...
I have an 03 Liberty and would like to replace the power steering fluid and because I cannot determine whether it has the original power steering fluid or ATF+4 (ATF was recommended soon after 03 as I can tell from posts) there right now I need to flush the system out and start fresh.
I don't...
Thanks for the info and excuse my lack of knowledge here.. I am learning... By dino you mean a non synthetic oil - eg a mineral based oil like this one?

Thanks
I'm replacing the oil in my rear differential with 75/140 synthetic. I looked up the build sheet and it appears that I have the 8.25 open (no mention of TransLoc) so from what I can tell, I won't need the friction modifier to be added to this.
If I post a picture can some of you experts confirm...
Thanks for the great suggestions.
Sounds like I should definitely do the differentials and transfer case fluid like you suggest. My fan is not the electrical one and Hoat was used when the flush pump/was done. I'll stock up on window washer fluid and bug spray! Thanks
I ordered a double din head unit form a similar company as Ali Express and spent ages wiring it all in and thinking I must have done something wrong when there was no sound. Turned out to be an issue with the unit itself and not my wiring so I wasted so much time installing a dud! I thought it...
