Hard to believe though that you could replace bearings for the noise and have the noise continue with a new even possibly bad bearing. You would think it would at least change the noise. I am betting it isn't the bearing.

Well it doesn't matter if your scanner is $2 or $2000. If the jeep computer doesn't provide this info then you wont get it. My point is, my scan tool provides this information on other cars, just not on the jeep. I was told it was car-specific - meaning (I think) the misfire information...

Turns out it may not need a new cat to fix the re-occurring (with increasingly shortening interval) P0420 code. The shop thinks the water going through the system may have thrown off the O-sensor. Every since the heads were fixed the code went away. Running like a top!

You can pull coil wires off one at a time to depower each cylinder. This sometimes helps isolate it to a particular cylinder if it is piston, wrist pin or rod related.
