Thanks for all the help everyone.
I went with the higher mileage axle. The other one had heavy damage to the driver side rear, not sure if it would've affected it or not.
Removing the old axle and putting the new one in wasn't too bad. I've changed fuel injectors in my LB7 Duramax so...
Thanks, I tried this earlier but was not getting results. Apparently I wasn't doing it right because it has some listed now, looks like you may have save me $100.
My pinion bearing has gone out. The jeep has 198k on it. I've looked into rebuilding the Chrysler 8.25 and it seems a little daunting, I haven't totally ruled it out. I took the rear cover off, everything seems fine except for the fact that the pinion has some up and down play.
I found a...
Thanks for the info, I haven't done any serious maintenance to a rack and pinion system. Only my 2003 silverado. I was not aware that I needed to check the bushings on the steering rack, they looked fine though.
I had some time to crawl under it and look at things while my wife turned the...
Wife's daily driver (a 2006) has 197k on it. We've owned it since 125k. It's time for tires again, steering has loosened up a bit. I plan on getting it aligned but I'd like to replace whatever needs replacing first.
What steering parts usually allow the most play? What's the best way to go...
I have 60,000 on 4 of them. Was considering a strictly highway tire this time but I may go ahead and get another set of the dynapro AT/M.
I am on my second set of them on my silverado 2500HD and like them.
Been using mobile 1 conventional as long as I've had it. Checked the PCV valve and all the lines. Everything seems to be clear and working. The sponge in the air box was in pretty bad shape though.
Here ya go:
My wife commutes in this jeep. 65 miles a day 5 days a week. All highway. I wouldn't really call it a short tripper.
I guess I will look into the service bulletin or eliminating the PCV system. Thanks for the responses, I have been worrying about this.
The last oil change was on the first cold day of the year. At that time I noticed quite a bit of moisture coming from the exhaust and some buildup on the filler cap.
I went to the auto parts store and loaned some tools. I checked compression, pressurized the coolant system, and checked the...
I have the 10 ply Hankook Dynapro ATM on my Silverado, its a diesel 3/4 ton, I really like them. My main concern for these tires is dry pavement performance and ice. I'll keep the Hankooks in mind, that may be what I use since I've got some experience with them. What about Firestone LE2s?
Edit...
Wow, glad I asked here, I haven't found much info on them but I thought they had pretty good reviews on dry pavement and ice which is my main concern. Thanks.
I'm thinking about buying these tires.
Mostly my wife drives the jeep to school about 60 miles a day 5 days a week. I would like to put something more aggressive on it but I feel like these may be a smarter choice in case she gets caught on a little ice.
Has anyone ran these? Is there any...
