I found this interesting. Nice pic of a KJ doing the Dukes of Hazard.

Dont leave us hanging on the edges of our seats David, run a paper towel along other top edges of the oil pan front to back so I can have my bragging rights :)
Check the front main seal, it is common for it to leak and for the oil to run along the top of the oil pan while driving and gather where you see it. The front seal does not sound as hard to replace and I bought one, but I also added some STP high mileage oil treatment at my last oil change...
What brand water pump? Wrap paper towels around the water pump tonight. I took replaced mine when I got my jeep and had to replace it again. The water pump is on the list of parts I have replaced twice.
Switch your front tires and see if the noise moves.
While it is jacked up see if you feel any movement in the front tire that would indicate the bearing is starting to go.
Feel for more heat on the right vs left side to see if the bearing is generating more heat.
If you have over 100K...
driveshaftparts.com search here and you will see their parts are good. Based on old threads, that is who I used based the second time because I don't want to do it a 3rd time.
I will have to check out my belt tensioner. I have been getting P0300 periodically but none since my AC compressor crapped out and the AC clutch broke. I was following with interest your "AC ripple" comment.
Glad you solved it.
So it looks like I got 7 years from the last AC kit I installed. From the factory AC lasted 10-11. Time to do it again.
The kit was installed by me, so I could be part the blame for it lasting 7 years.
My AC clutch melted down, stunk and stopped working. It smelled like burning rubber according to my daughter. So my AC no longer works.
To try to diagnose it, I removed the belt and tried to turn it clockwise with the bolt. The compressor turned but not easily. After a couple of turns...
To revisit a year later .....
Finger crossed I fixed the AC. For a year I have had intermittent AC when I have it on re-circle or the upper vents, but 100% ac compressor kicking in when on defrost. No more check engine lights when the compressor kicks in, so that mush have been just because...
My new hubs came with brand new sensors. They too were good for a little while.
Keep investigating other issues and hopefully you will find it.
Swap the tires around and see what happens
