    Required Fluid Types

I told my High school buddy whose a mechanic about replacing the transmission oil on my 2007 Jeep KJ, and since I haven't changed the transmission oil since I got the KJ in 2016, he advised not to do it now. His reasoning was that if I replace it with new oil, the transmission won't get into...

    Ginormous air conditioning leak

I replaced the high pressured A/C line and the A/C worked for about 2 weeks, then I got myself a vacuum pump and A/C gauges at harbor freight to work on the AC system myself. Replaced the shrader valve on the low A/C side but it still leaked. My guess is that my evaporator core finally gave...

PCV valve not all the way in, would this be okay? Code P507

Thank you! I cleaned the TB yesterday with TB spray cleaner and later after driving it a few miles the TB dashboard came on. Yes the inspection place did say my idle was high. Going to see what else I can do before I put the monies down on a new TB

PCV valve not all the way in, would this be okay? Code P507

Well after spending more than 3-4 hours last night and this morning, I'm here seeking advice on what removal tool to use. Followed instructions here and I was able to remove the original PCV valve...

Rattling noise on Passenger's tire side when driving but more when braking

Ah thank you so much for that detailed graphic. It does sound like rocks in a coffee can at times, and I was driving it yesterday with no hint of sounds until 30 minutes later it started again. It drives me nuts wondering what it could be so I'll definitely check the front sway bar end links.

Rattling noise on Passenger's tire side when driving but more when braking

This morning I took both front tires off to inspect the brakes and rotors and they seemed fine. I first heard this rattling noise a few weeks ago and then it disappeared on its own. Now it's back and it is more obvious when I am braking and it will make a rattling noise. Sometimes there is...

Alternative fixes to carrying the spare tire - Spare tire rack damaged in rear collision

Thanks AceofSpades and Kejobe for that suggestion. I do have to be careful to see if I can pop-out that dent. Wouldn't want to take out the tailgate with it. Now to look for a good sturdy-looking tree.

Alternative fixes to carrying the spare tire - Spare tire rack damaged in rear collision

She was lying about her identity and on the police report, it did not have any insurance info. I'm guessing she was driving someone else's car as another person claiming to be the owner of the vehicle later arrived but the police asked her to leave. I'm waiting the 7-10 days to get the official...

Alternative fixes to carrying the spare tire - Spare tire rack damaged in rear collision

Got rear-ended 2 weeks ago by some dumb 18-year old who was probably on her cellphone. Thankfully the '07 KJ is driveable with only cosmetic repair. I've been to the local junkyards and seen 2 options for tailgates (Mopar tailgate costs 1k+ Shipping) but I have not learned how to replace the...

    '05 Money Pit?

Yeah that's a tough situation. Are you using it as a daily driver or only for work-chores like plowing through snow? Not thinking of all the monies that have gone to the pit, how do find yourself enjoying the Jeep KJ ?

HOW TO: fix the KJ fuel burp plague!

Nice. I'm lazy too! Good to see a lazy-fix for those of us. I have a '07 KJ and have just learned to live with the fuel burp. There was only one time where it did really bug me as it was a huge spill but I can live with it.

Problems with ignition switch actuator a year after replacing it? 2007 Jeep KJ

Had a mechanic check the ignition system and he had to replace the upper steering metal piece that holds the actuator pin and ignition switch cylinder as there was something faulty with it. Charged me $225+$100 in parts. Everything turns on perfectly like normal but now the ESP/BAS lights are...

Problems with ignition switch actuator a year after replacing it? 2007 Jeep KJ

No the actuator is not broken. I found out the bottom piece that holds the spring (has a yellow button) holds a little square piece that goes in. I lost that piece and now I'm wondering if that's preventing the start-up! I don't even know the name of that piece to try to locate the part #...

Problems with ignition switch actuator a year after replacing it? 2007 Jeep KJ

Yes, I could get all the electrical stuff (relay triggering) working when turning over the key, but there would be no crank at the engine. I used the doorman actuator replacement and the ignition cylinder never became hard to turn. last night when I took the ignition actuator out of the...

Problems with ignition switch actuator a year after replacing it? 2007 Jeep KJ

Thank you, Billwill ! It never crossed my mine to look inside the ignition switch to see if there was a switch of sorts. I will use a small flat screwdriver to probe around it and see if it will turn on this way. I might just replace both the switch and actuator switch if they're being faulty.
