As for rear mounting, the winch and mount interferes with the stock spare tire location (at least it does with the integrated version of my winch).
As for the amount of protrusion, I think the ARB bull bar would stick out much less. I don't even wheel with it on because it...

You may have a difficult time getting your drill in there, and the bit they recommend was an odd size to locate. All in all everything went smoothly though.

I did a number on my license plate and bracket this weekend.
Went muddin' a few weeks ago. I got so much mud stuck to my chassis and wheels that I had to take my wheels off and put her on jackstands in order to clean her up:
Got stuck so bad this weekend that I had to climb out of the back window. I wish I had some pictures of that :-({|=
