New to the Liberty -- how many miles can I expect

Hi, I'm new to the Liberty and shopping for a KK and I'm wondering how much I can afford to spend and a lot of that depends on how much life is left in her.

I think I found a good one with oil changes about every 5k, and a transmission change at 74k. It has about 115k now and I would plan to change all the fluids once I get it and would continue regular maintenance.

Do you think 175k is reasonable? I'm sure there are forum members here over 200k. Just wondering what a reasonable expectation would be and thought I'd turn here first for some real-world advice and experience. Thanks : )

Mine (well sortra mine- I gave it to my kid) has over 300k on it. Still the factory drive train. 200k of that is mine and about 50k miles off road and bouncing through the desert.

If the price is right, nothing wrong with that mileage.

Like any vehicle, do your maintenance, keep an eye out for rust and you will do just fine with it.

Thanks Johnny--it definitely sounds like you got your money's worth : ). There's a local independent dealer with 2 Libertys I assume he bought at auction. One is priced at 5k, the other at 6.5k. Both prices are below KBB retail for their year and mileage so they sound reasonable. I'm interested in the 2008 for $6.5 with 115k miles. It looks very clean and has the towing package. I have a small bowrider so I need that.
I'm all ears if anyone has some advice on typical things to look for on a test ride. I googled the dealer and there were the typical range of reviews. A couple of really unfortunate experiences, and a lot of positive reviews, several of them sounding fake, so they probably are. I've thought about taking it to a mechanic, but I'm not sure if they'd do much more than just check fluids and go for a short test ride. I have a scan tool, so I'll confirm that there aren't any recently cleared codes. I'll check the trans fluid for color and oder, check under the oil cap for foam, check the dipstick for any discoloration, and verify it shifts through all the gears smoothly. Searching for any advice on what else to check. I've read the window controls can be problematic. Any other Liberty-specific things I should look for?

I’m confident mine would still be kicking’ if it wasn’t for the (body) rust. Suspension, thermostat, steering rack was all it needed over its lifetime.

Worn suspension, easily and relatively cheaply upgraded. Rust if it's been on salty roads.

229k miles on my 08 KK now. I recommend changing your oil every 3000 miles to keep the sludge under control. These Jeeps can last a long time if you keep up on maintenance. If you live in a state where they use salt on the roads, get a monthly unlimited car wash subscription for $20 that includes underbody wash, and keep the salt at bay.
