I have a 04 Liberty 3.7 6cyl. with 75,600 miles. Got an engine light a couple of months ago---P-0128. I have since replaced the engine coolant temp sensor, radiator cap, and ECM [which had to be cloned]. A/C and Heat work fine and temp gauge is fine. Vehicle is primarily used for short [less than 10 miles each way] trips. Any thoughts or possible fixes? Thanks.

This code means that the engine did not warm up to 180 degrees in 10 minutes after startup.
Could be the thermostat is stuck open? Try a new Mopar thermostat?
Only use Mopar Hoat Coolant or Zerex GO5.

I'd also like to mention that short trips can make the KJ unhappy as the stock pcv valve, can become plugged up with a yellowish foam.
Best thing is to drive the jeep a bit further !
This is what my pcv valve looked like due to short trips in cooler weather. Are you using a full synthetic 5w-30 oil?

I have a 2002 Liberty 6 cyl with about 125,000 miles. The engine light came on and it was running fine. as per my roughly right memory that engine tends to have valve issues, but you could research it on the Internet in case I’m mistaken. I took it in to have it repaired so they hook it up to their computer They replaced the spark plugs and the number 2 cylinder ignition coil. They also did the air fuel induction service. I probably drove it less than 20 miles after I picked it up. The engine light came back on and it wouldn’t keep running.
Now I’m being told The valve seal or seat on cylinder 2 moved out of place and it caused cylinder head damage. They said something about hanging up the valve seal or seat and causing a misfire. Now they’re telling me I need a new engine.
Could that have been fixed before it ruined my engine?
Could yours be fixed before it ruins your engine

In my Jeep manual it said try better. Gas If someone has one of those computer things they could hook it up and possibly tell you why the engine lights on. If one cylinder has an issue, they can do a compression check to see if the valve seat is loose. I think they can actually look inside the valves too
I’ve heard valve issues are common on that Jeep engine. I would research what the common issues are before I go to a shop so you know what they should look for.
The question is are some of those engine valve issues repairable so the engine doesn’t get damaged or a bigger repair would be needed or an engine replacement
