Hi all, new to the forum and hoping to learn.

I'm in the process of changing a rack and pinion on my step daughter's 2005 Jeep Liberty limited with a 3m7 engine. Got the old one out and got the new one in place (not bolted yet) but can't get the joint and shaft the mesh... can't slide the joint on the shaft. Any tricks for me?
Thanks

It was just me being a bit of a moron... I just needed to turn the shaft 1/4 turn. I put in the way the old one was when I took it out but it must have turned while I was manipulating it to get it out.

Now I have a different problem. Tried to take the high pressure hose off but the end that goes in the pump won't unscrew. Instead, the insert/nut at the pump is coming loose. I don't have access to hold both the insert and the nut of the hose itself.

So I figured I could take both off and separate them after they are out but then a spring and a part came out....

Can I just put them back in? Is the order on the picture ok? Or is there more to it? Thanks
