Hi, i have a engine noise problem that i can't figure out why it happens. Short explanation of the situation. If the engine is cold(ex. after night at morning), it usually sounds like buzzing for 5 minutes. When i push throttle pedal a bit, buzzing dies till engine gets idle. At the end when engine gets warm it dies compeletely

Additionally, engine(at 80K miles) burns oil a lot(from top limit of oil dipstick to a bit under of lowest safe level in just 3k miles :bawl:), i did not notice that untill oil warning on dash. It is interesting because no blue smoke comes from exhaust while reving. Then i heard that PCV can cause some oil decrement but, can it cause that much loss?

Thanks

The buzzing sounds like a heat shield rattle to me. Definitely change the pcv it's cheap. Also check all the breather tubes for vacuum leaks.

Ohh right i forgot to tell the sound comes from somewhere from under the car but close to front. I guess like from same level from front tires. Then that increases possibility of heat shield. I will check that as soon as possible and then change the PCV

Thanks for idea.

Not sure what year you have (should fill out your profile) but check the heat shields on the exhaust manifolds too. They are held to the manifolds by a few of the manifold bolts that are actually studs with an additional nut for the heat shield. At least that's the way it is on my 02. Things may tighten when it warms up.

X3 on shields, I noticed you have a check engine light on as well. What are the codes?
The PCV ya, pull the baffle too if you have one inside the oil filler neck..
If it looks like this...the PCV is probably plugged too, and is caused by short trips, without longer hot engine runs.

Short trips? Mostly I drive about 25 km per trip.

P0135 and P1491. I have LPG system probably that causes o2 sensor problem. Must be calibrated again. And other one about fan relay. Interestingly I don't have electric fan but I have mechanical one. Maybe previous owner unmounted it. I also wonder, can lack of electric fan causes heating a bit more than normal level in summer in a traffic jam?

It becomes a problem magnet these days. Also air bag light is on sometimes and abs light too. Last winter abs system completely renewed. It works well even its warning light is on.

Ya the clutch fan is not meant the be the main fan! The electric is the main the clutch is just extra.
