My 07 swaybar seems to have about 3/4" lateral movement(see pics) is this normal or are the bushings/end links worn/shot?
There is no noise or clunking at all.Only 81,000kms.
Just wondering?

From the pictures, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with them.

From down here in the heart of Dixie, it's hard to imagine having to contend with all the rusted-in-place metal yall Nawtherners have to contend with!

Look at the pictures a little closer.....the sway bar has moved towards the drivers side of the Jeep.

Lateral movement.

I don't know what could cause this situation other than parking the front tire on a tree stump to take pictures and the flexing motion pulled the sway bar towards the drivers side.

Either way.....it appears to have been in that location for a long time based on the amount of rust that has developed where the bushing should normally be.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.....you should be saving up money to deal with rusted out brake lines and rusted out fuel tank/oil pan........I cant believe how much rust is under that Liberty.....I thought the rust was only a myth.

The end links to me look ok...just going by not seeing deformed bushings. Maybe they could be worn.

For the bushings, they're like $13 for the pair, my sway bar was shifted over a bit too when they were worn. On my 3rd set.

Although if you have no clunking you're probably ok for now. But first cold snap it'll probably start creaking pretty bad.

Well my last few off road trips have been on some pretty rough and rocky roads with some belly deep sippy holes.Loaded with camping and fishing gear and towing a boat.lots of side to side torque/jostling.

Time to get crazy I guess :icon_lol:

I take it they are torqued with weight on the ground.

If they are not making noise i would leave well enough alone.

The movement seems to be more then most and are probably worn but they are holding together and you don't have the creaks or clunks most get so i wouldn't mess with it.

Atlantic Canada undercoating FTW.
