Help. Jeep at temp smells like a blown out birthday candle

Hi all. I have a real stumper. When I'm idling at a stop sign and at temp my defrost/heating vents smell like a blown out birthday candle. Now here the kicker. No smell from the engine and If my radio is off no smell at all. Start driving again. No smell. It use to happen ever once in a while to now all the time (radio on). So far everything checks out. This is a new car. For me so i am still learning about it. It's a 2004 Libby sport 6 cld. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. All fluid are clean and at level

Smell coming from the vents can mean a leaking heater core, but not when tied to the radio. Possibly the radio may be overheating or having an electronic meltdown.

That sounds likely to me.

Since you're only smelling it with the vent blowing, try taking the bezel off around the radio (it's easy - just one screw, then pry carefully around the edges) and stick your beak in there and see if you can smell it coming directly from the radio. I'd leave the blower off while doing this.

I wonder if it could be a CD in there overheating?
The Cd's can get super hot, especially if ya got the heater on & might get a little candle ripe?

A candle smell is not good. That was the smell I got when I almost burned my libby to the ground because of a bad relay on my on board air skid that began smoking. P.S. the relay was from stupid harbor freight and when I took it apart it was some solid state crap and it smelled so bad that I had to bring it back to harbor freight in several bags.

You in all likelihood have a small oil leak from your passenger side valve cover gasket which is dripping on your exhaust manifold. This is a common occurrence with the Liberty.
