I posted this over on L.O.S.T as well. Sorry if it's repetative to see it on both sites.

I was wondering if anyone had any insight.

Now that it's been getting in the 30's here lately I've notived when I go over bumps the Jeep makes squeeking noises as it goes over them. It appears to mostly be in the rear and coming from both sides/all around in the rear not just from one specific side. It's really loud though. Over small bumps in the road I can hear it clear as day with the windows up and the radio on. Doesn't do it if I go over something bigger like a speed bump though. I noticed it did it yesterday morning but in the evening it was wet and rainy on my way home and a bit warmer and there was no squeeking noise over bumps.

The rear shocks are fairly new and looking at them there doesn't appears to be anything wrong with them. I know it's probably impossible to diagnose something like this over the internet but figured I'd post up and see if anyone had some guidance on things I can check out or grease up to make stop. It never did it until it started to get cold. I had the lift on mid last winter or so and it never made the squeeking noise back then either.

Not sure if this is just one of the perks of being lifted or if I got something bad going on.

If its in the rear check the shock bushings and spray them with soapy water. I had that same noise in the front in the winter and I did that to my sway bar bushings and no more noise.

All credit of that idea goes to Troy of course :)

Do you have your rear sway bar on? As soon as I took mine off all rear creaking went away.

Mine had one related to the LCA recall. They tightened the bolts with axle hanging. loosen the bolts and retorque with weight on the ground.

Sounds bushing related to me. Try the soapy water on them. Check for damaged/chunked out bushings.

Removed the rear sway bar and so far not so much as a squeek from the rear over bumps. It also eliminated the hard thumping sound I'd always hear when it's cold over bumps that I thought was the upper control arm in the rear.

If all those suggestions don't remove the noise, here's another thought... mine was coming from dirt build up in the rear gate and window latches. They would creak on body twist or bounce. Cleaned them up and lube them, no more creak.

Well that was short lived. I chalk it up to the weather being in the 60's. It dropped back down to being in the 30's-40's and the noise is back. Real bummer, I thought I had it done and over with. Normally it wouldn't even bother me but it's actually pretty loud. In the morning driving to work if I put the window down I can hear the noise echo off the houses and stuff as I go over a bump which tells me it's pretty loud outside the vehicle as well. Time to check the rear LCA and bushings and go from there next.

Removing the rear sway bar did however eliminate the knocking sound over larger bumps when it was cold which I also had last winter. The creeking is new this time around in the cold though.
