Hey telefunkin....too bad about the KJ, long as noone was hurt it's all good.

I see your from PEI too...I will be moving back there in a few weeks myself. Keep an eye peeled for a red lifted KJ. ;)

Good luck with the fix.

That looks like a 3,000+ accident. The Jeep should be worth more then that. The front frame rails dont crumple easily.

Doesnt look all that bad. All that plastic and crap makes it look worse than it is.

Main bumper is pushed in some though.. Let us know how it goes. If thats a write off buy it back and fix er up.

Don't know what year it is, but I'm guessing the damage is about 1500 to 2K for what is visible.....

Hi
Here in NZ that would be fixed inside a week and done easily. The insurance company would hardly even look at it. Fix it they would say.:)

The front would have to be non existant to be written off here on a vehicle of that age and value!!

Good to read nobody was hurt though.

I'll update as soon as I get some more info. The insurance adjuster is out of town so I probably won't know much until next week.

@JeepJeepster, the front bumper is pushed in quite a bit. it doesn't look horrible in the picture but when you see it in person it looks bad. Hopefully that's the worst and the rest of the frame is ok.

@kj924, i'll keep my eye out for ya.

It's an 07 with 110,000kms

Nah, way more than that. Lady backed into me with her bike rack, punched a very neat hold in my grill, cracked the header panel (the nebulous thing that holds the headlights in place) and put a rub mark on one of my indicator lights (no actual damage). Estimate was for $1,500.

If you can actually "see" damage, like, from across the street, you're in the $4k realm.

I can't tell from the Pic, did the air bags deploy? I believe that is the sign on damage past that front cross member.

Sorry to hear about the accident but I am glad to hear no one was hurt.

I am curious to see how the repair to the jeep goes. It doesn't look that bad in the pic, but I know it is not the same thing as seeing it in person.

From the pix,
My guess is a new front crossmember and while the front is off get a chassis alignment to check if it's straight. A quick tweak if it ain't. There will be loads of second hand bits around for sure to do the plastic bits. You might need a replacement RF guard.
NZ$3000 at the most. 10 days if we had to get a cross member from Jeep.

Anyhoo...be interesting to know how the US panelbeating biz is going ;)

Sounds like it's WAY more expensive and slow than 'ere:eek:

the air bags did not deploy

That's a good sign. I've had two deer hits in the front, one accident where I rearended someone and been in a sandwich. My air bags have never deployed and when I asked the adjuster if I should be worried about it, he made me believe that it was because none of the damage made it past the front crossmember/bumper.

Air bag deployment has nothing to do with the amount of damage or anything like that. Its all about how quick you decelerated. If you get in a wreck and you have no injuries then theres a very good reason the air bags didnt deploy..

I'm not worried about the repair cost, the other driver's insurance is paying for that and it was a pretty low speed accident so I'm not surprised that the airbags didn't go off. I'm just curious now to see if the frame was damaged.

Glad your wife is okay!
We need to take a poll. I personally think it will be up in the $4K US range, who knows how much repair to front structure and if the front frame area is racked.
