Need Off Road 150W+ Rectangular Light?

Would like to find a bright rectangular (black) single driving light 12v-150+ watt.
Does such an animal exist??(banghead)

The Hella 550FF is a rectangular driving light with a black case and a real glass lens, but its only 55w. I don't think you going to find 150w+ in something that small, but i could be wrong. I know they do make 100w bulbs that you can put in these Hella's but you really need to upgrade the wiring to them as well since its about twice the amperage as the stock 55w bulb.

Other than that a HID driving light to get that kind of output?

Why do you need 150W bulbs?

If it's a good light, 55w will do just fine. Pattern more than power!

Thanks for the replies. I have already looked at KC' s & Hella 's. I am going for intensity/distance not pattern. HID are too expensive. I would like to be able to photograph winter, mountain roadways ahead scenes, with wildlife etc. The basic 55's are not bright enough and do not allow the best exposures. The brighter the better. May start searching for search lights etc..that may fit the bill.

Just use more than one 55w! I run four right now.

I just did a simple search and it turned up 5000+ hits for driving lights!

Hamsar lamps. These are really good. they are Hella lighting but less exspensive.

I my self have and will be using two 8 inch round pencil beam lamps and
two 6X9 inch rectangular Dick Cepek driving beam lamps up top the roof.
With a wired remote operated search light in the centre of my light bar.

Also, as TBJ pointed out, beam pattern is the really important part of the lamp.
You have pencil beam, driving beam which projects the light pattern far and wide, but not as far as a pencil beam lamp.
Then there are wide angle lamps, fog lamps which of course have a sharp horizontal light beam cut off.

Yes, but the fluting on the lens or built into the lamps reflectors are what create the intensity and distance! Not just the wattage of the bulb!
So the pattern is very important. Look at the four Bosch 225 lamps on the front of my Mini in my avatar. With those four lamps and my two headlamps, I have 960 watts of light. But if that same wattage was in cheap ass lamps, the intensity and distance would be nowhere the same. A cheap lamp scatters the light and causes stray light to get projected where you don't want it and the lamps then are inefficient!

Also, search lights tend to either have an adjustable beam pattern or a fine focused spot or pencil beam/pattern and then you have a to intense hot spot!

You might want to think about an LED bar... They are now brighter than HID's, but also come with the price tag of new technology.

Thanks For all the info/replies. I already have installed the PIAA extreme White's as reg headlamps. (they are much brighter & whiter than stock for sure)
On the Pushbar will probably go 2 x 6x9 and see how that goes for starters. When I do get around to getting a roof basket, then I can consider spending more and getting a better battery & alternator to eventually get some lights up top then.Thanks for Links Ryan.

kc is expensive but you get what you pay for... proud owner of 6 kc's lol
