Valve cover gasket? That's where my wife's oil was going and it was dripping on the exhaust pipe, burning, and stinking up the cabin.

At 286,000 miles, I would assume rings & stem seals would be responsible for oil loss.
Not to say it cant leak either, but how much blue is coming out to the tail pipe?
I would run dino oil in it and put a half a bottle of blue stp in it and see how it does.
Also if it is burning make sure your pcv valve is checked to rattle and not plugged up.

had a 1994 plymouth voyager 3.0 L that used to have a check the gas, fill the oil policy. ie qt every 2-3 tanks and was pretty blue exhaust wise.

Rebuild would have been more the sticker and qts of oil are cheap by comparison.

When removing the PCV I always use a hair dryer to heat the hose first.
Then hose should be easier to remove.. The PCV valve has to be turned counter clockwise .. to remove it.
Go easy on it when turning/removing the pcv, u don't want to crack the plastic on the filler tube. So heat on/around pcv area/ plastic before turning also is a good idea.

Makin it work.. takes a little longer.....(Doug & the Slugs) LOL...:icon_lol:

Rebuild the engine is the only fix,or installing a remaned engine.

Left to long and your going to need new cats also.

Cats don't come cheap either, its smarter to rebuild than to just keep adding oil you'll regret it in the long run.
