Temperature Sensor Acting Erratically

Looking for some insight here.

The temperature sensor in my Jeep seems to act up between 70 and 80 degrees F. Anything above or below those temps display properly but, that range of temps causes the display to indicate -40 to 23 most of the time.

I tried replacing the sensor itself but, that didn't seem to do anything. Could it be a short somewhere, how could I test this?

Are you sure there's something wrong with it? The weather we've been having lately... it just might be telling the truth.
