Strange clicking sound when in reverese

In the morning when I go to back out of my drive, I put my foot on the brake and I place the ****** in Reverse. Before I even let my foot off the brake, I hear a clicking sound that seems to be coming either from the ******, or the rear diff. It isn't a clank, or a clunk, or a ratchet. It is a clicking sound.

probably your brake pedal. Mine does it also...nothing to worry about.

Normal, its the ****** shifting into R, it does it through all the gears.

I would have never thought of that. If that is what it is, it would be the first automatic that I have ever heard shift like that. That *****, I was hoping it was a locker or something, that the previous owner would have had installed. #-o

after re-reading your post, are you talking about the ticking that sorta goes "bzzzzzzzzz-tic-tic-tic" when switching gears? If so thats entirely normal. It's the solenoids in your ****** doing their job and switching gears to whatever you selected. All automatic transmissions do it...but Chrysler automatic's are particularly loud in doing so. If you listen closely when your driving around down with the radio and blower off on the inside...you can hear it making the same noise when you cycle through the gears.

I had a cirrus and it was most noticable when i had the windows down and no radio and was slowing down to a stop. If it's the bizzt tic tic tic noise it's defenatly the crysler transmission. It bothered me at first but I got used to it.

I'm on my second KJ, and both made this buzzing sound, for a second, when put in reverse. I would agree with the others. This is normal for these Jeeps.

Make sure none of your buddies put a zip tie on your drive shaft recently.:gr_grin::happy175:
