Not sure why it took so long, but if every thing wasn't timed correctly, pop goes the rocker. The rockers are a fail safe that is built in to the engine to save it self in case the belt breaks, slips, or is miss timed
Or if there was excessive stretch in the timing belt, it would be easy to misalign the cam and crank. Not to mention if who installed the new belt also installed a new tensioner, and removed the tensioner before anything else.
Not sure how CRD KJs are set up, but on some Toyotas it's pretty easy to pop off the tensioner without removing the belt.
I changed at the dealer. Two belt and all tensioners. $1500.
They could be mistaken, but take my money. More $1500.
Nobody wrote about the other problems with the rockers, this engine.
