How to clean engine

What do you guys clean your KJ's engine? What parts do you guys cover up as to not get wet?

I use Simple Green works awesome,I don't cover anything up,just make sure the engine is completly cold best time to do it is first thing in the morning after it sits all night & don't use jet stream on the hose nozzle ( full bore) about half trigger should be fine make sure you don't get any water in the air intake & box you can stick a towel in there but I usualy don't after all is said & done I usualy take it for a 30 min ride never had a problem 2-3 times a year I do this

Ive heard its best to warm it up alittle(not all the way, maybe 1-2min of idle). Should have any problems, just do not spray any electrical stuff directly.
