Has anyone replaced their cigarette lighter socket? I've never had to pull one of these out before & looking for guidance -

Seems like it should be fairly simple but.................

Thanks!

I haven't done this in a Liberty, but have in other vehicles (IF it is handled the same). Here is how I think it will need to be done:

1. Remove 1 screw behind cig lighter (a little to the left of it).
2. Pop off whole dash piece for your radio/heating controls
3. From the inside of the cig lighter, spin the metal case counter-clockwise. It actually unscrews from the socket, which I believe is what holds it in place.
4. When the inside part of the lighter is removed, the back side should be able to remove and disconnected from the electric clip.
5. Install the new one in reverse order.

Good luck.

If that bothered you, all apologies - Just trying to get some help wiring in this CB ..

I should just go through the fire wall but I can't locate a hole to run through

Thanks

In my KJ I took off the trim cover that surrounds the radio and HVAC controls (you won't be able to get it all the way off because the HVAC control wiring will hold it there, but you'll be able to pull it far enough away to get in behind the lighter). It can be pried off along the top, then you have to remove one screw behind the ash tray. I then disconnected the lighter wiring harness, which has a basic automotive style clip on it. The cig lighter socket itself has two locking tabs, one on either side of the circle in which it mounts through the trim panel. I used a very small flathead screwdriver to press the tabs in, and then was able to pull the cig lighter socket loose from the trim panel. To put it back in, it just snaps back in there then snap the wiring connector back on.

Here's how you go through the firewall if you decide to do that, but for just a CB you should be able to tap into just about any circuit you can find...
