4 wheel drive issues

hi i have a 02 sport 4x4 and while driving it makes a clicling sound from the front which i thought was a cv or a hub but when i put it in 4 wheel it makes a metal on metal sound. any suggestions?

Yes, CV on the front driveshaft. The end that attaches to the transfer case.
