Good morning everyone,

I know this has probably happened to several of you before. To give as much info as I can we are an older couple, no kids riding in the back and use it for only short drives.

I have a 2006 Liberty at the time with only 25,000 miles, 3 years ago the LR window fell down without use, just driving down the road and boom it was down and hit the door mechanism and not only could not get it back up, the door would not open. The Jeep dealership wanted 500.00 to fix it. I did not get it fixed, thought it was ridiculous and an obvious defect. So I contacted Jeep and got no help.

Last year on a cold and snowy day, driving down the high way guess what the RR window fell and fortunately did not hit the lock mechanism. Contacted Jeep again and no help. They said they had recalls of some of the Liberty's but not my 2006. Once again they wanted another 500 bucks.

My fix was to use 20 dollars of monster tape, which I change every three months.

Does anyone have any idea what to do? This is obviously a defect and I see many on the road with their windows taped. The lady two doors down had the same thing on her 2006.

I love the car, hate the windows. Before I divorce myself from Jeep I wanted to post something here and see if anyone knows of any other ways to get a reaction from Jeep because I feel spending 1000 dollars into windows every few years will total the car because of value and now I only have 45,000 miles on it.

I thank everyone in advance for any info you have. I really do not want a divorce, I want windows that work.

Yep, this will fix it, and replace the broken plastic piece with a steel one that won't break again. :happy107:

I'm actually planning on doing mine at some point, even if the windows aren't broken right now. It's just a piece of mind thing.

That said, it's not only A Jeep Thing. I've had several vehicles that did the same thing, including a '98 BMW 3-series. Just driving along and BAM! Window disappears. Same problem, too, a broken plastic clip.

Here's the link to Steiger's site.

Surprised no comments on the 06 with 25k! That's pretty impressive. If you don't feel like fixing the windows, I'll take it off your hands for you. :ROFLJest:

Probably should have worded it, WOW, an 06 that had only 25k miles 3 years ago is still just totally and utterly...... not too shabby. :happy175:

I see 45,000 miles on it , still not bad for a 06 though

Ah, missed the 45k at the bottom. I actually saw a couple listed on ebay with some low miles. A couple of 03s with under 60k. An 05 with 48k. Man are they expensive and far from me. :icon_frown:

Think I'll just keep playing with mine.

I think I'm going to have to start taking pictures of some the insane low mile Libby's that come through my Service Drive, like the 03 I had last week with like 35K Miles.

Once you hit a certain age it happens. I'm like you, you just want to head for the door... :emotions34:

I knew you had previously sold tires. You telling me you're pitching ****** these days? :happy175:

I only sell or pitch items that I have personal knowledge of. Only 60 now and all parts work as they did at 20, so you'll have to wait 15-20 years before I pitch ******:icon_lol:

Did you notice the fine print at the bottom though?
*19,857 miles, on the replacement engine.
Not really, but I have seen idiots advertise that way before.
