Not quite correct, historically speaking. Chrysler took the Cherokee, rounded it into the KJ, and essentially returned it to its roots in the KK. One does wonder if Chrysler had canceled the Liberty name and called the KK "Cherokee" here in the US (as they have done all along everywhere else)...

It's more of a calculation the engine computer does to tell you when, based on how you have driven, you should change the oil. On my Liberty, it varies between 2800 and 3300 miles when it comes on. More highway miles causes it to go further before the reminder comes on.

While my KK has cruise control, the one I test drove at the dealer didn't, so it's definitely an option. Kind of funny actually, I test drove an automatic without cruise, yet I bought a 6-speed manual with cruise.
