    Improved my gas mileage

I hear what you're saying about possible rain getting into the intake, but I've had other vehicles (focus, lancer) with identical looking intakes that came that way from the factory. I think for rain to get in the intake it would have to be pretty much a hurricane blowing horizontal rain...

    Improved my gas mileage

On my 3.7L v6 I took off the little plastic piece that sits in front of the air intake. It looks like it is there to protect against water being thrown over the hood, but it is useless on a jeep like mine that is 100% on road. Before I removed it I averaged about 21 mpg. Now I get about 23...

    Noisy 3.7L

I really appreciate having an a-hole answer my replies with useless insults. Some of you guys take it personally when someone does not love your jeep. It's just a vehicle. Get over it. About the only thing that has been talked about in this thread that has been worthwhile has been the fact...

    Noisy 3.7L

I know that the Durango was a more expensive vehicle, but Jeep could have put another $20 worth of sound deadening in the jeep. They made my jeep and put a $22000 price tag on it. I would expect that at that price if there is not enough sound insulation then that was a decision made by jeep...

    Noisy 3.7L

The 3.7 in the Jeep is too noisy. I had an 06 Durango with the 3.7 and it was very quiet. My 07 Sport with the 6 speed is noisy enough that I will never look at Jeeps for future vehicles. I think that Jeep must have decided to make it noisier so that it would be more Jeep like. They could...

    Underneath your Liberty?

I was putting on my hitch the other day and noticed that the underside of my jeep has no undercoating of any type. All that's on there is a thin layer of paint. I've got an 07 sport model. Do you guys with the higher priced models have anything on your undersides from the factory?

bigger cams for a jeep liberty

Yeah, I was only talking about the easy things to do on the outside of the engine. If you want to move to FI then you would need to break open the engine and the pocketbook. Maybe with the simple stuff you might get enough horsepower to be satisfied. You might want to leave the internals...

bigger cams for a jeep liberty

Do it and have fun. My advice would be simple. Use quality parts that you won't have to swap out later on. Dryflow intake (cold air if available), long tube headers (if available), Gibson exhaust with mandrel bends or other mandrel bend system (2 1/2" should be plenty big), Reprogrammed...

    KJ and a manual transmission...

With the 6-spd, you have to gun it hard in 1st and 2nd to get the jeep moving with traffic. Then you can drive pretty normal in the other gears. I agree that the first two gears are pretty low for everyday driving, but if you live in an area with steep hills the torque really gets you going...

    KJ and a manual transmission...

I've owned my 07 Liberty with the manual 6 speed for a week. The vehicle is very noisy, but it is also pretty strong running. I'm going to add some interior insulation to try to quiet it down. I bought the ad car at a dealer in Tenn. and paid $15995 for my Liberty with 40 miles on the...
