you can barely even notice a 2 inch lift unless you are parked next to a stock liberty. you won't have any problem in mass but don't expect your dealer to fix a suspension related problem under warranty.
Junky, I've basically changed the front suspension already and the problem is still there. Took out the RevTek spacers and factory coils and replaced them with Rocky's 2.5" extended coils, then I upgraded to Rocky's 2" extended front shocks, and recently I also changed both the front...
changed out the front struts... problem is STILL there. this is getting really annoying.
the sound only occurs when either or both of the front wheels extend rapidly. Changed the springs and struts. And there's nothing contacting the spring (i.e. upper ball joint) What else could it be...
just to give you guys an update on my KJ... I replaced the front aluminum spacers with rusty's 2" springs, and the noise problem is still there. ](*,) now the mechanic at the dealer says the problem is the front shocks are too short, so now I'm waiting on a pair of rusty's 2" lift struts. i...
I actually prefer the ride quality of the all-terrains since they soak up more road imperfections instead of transmitting them into the cabin and to the steering wheel. Of course when you switch from "all-season" tires to a more aggressive tire like the all-terrains, you'll probably notice a...
these BFG tires are somewhat more expensive than most other truck tires... but although some of that additional expense pays for marketing (otherwise known as paying for a "name") the rest of that expense is for better manufacturing quality. For example, these tires have three layers of rubber...
IMHO it's worth spending a few more bucks and getting a much better tire, especially considering how long they last. these look kinda small but they're actually 33's...
I have a new hypothesis. The spring spacers up front are made out of what looks like billet aluminum. I think these spacers are banging against the strut plates up top whenever either front strut extends rapidly. So my proposed solution is to get some OME springs to replace the front spacers...
Yes, they're very nice tires. I have 31" all-terrains on my Liberty and just a couple days ago I mounted a set of 33" all-terrains on my girlfirend's Avalanche \:D/
I've always been a fan of the BFG all-terrains and mud-tarrains, I must have bought at least 6 or 8 sets over the years. Never...
I've got the same exact problem as jeeperkeeper, only the passenger side. That reminds me... gotta try some marine lubricant on that mechanism to try and free it up.
I'm pretty sure it's for marketing. They've developed recognition with the name Cherokee, and since there are no more Cherokee's they might as well take advantage of the advertising and promotion money they've spent on the Cherokee all these years. I don't think they mind the name Liberty...
yep, as i wrote in the post the car was jacked up with the tires off the ground for all those pix. so today i adjusted the strut down in to the clevis enough that the clevis was making 100% clamping contact, in case that was wobbling around causing the banging sound. Didn't make any difference...
I took the following pictures with the car jacked up so the tires are just off the ground. It appears there is no balljoint contact, and even the bump stops have no sign of contact.... nobody has any idea what the problem is.
So far I've had two mechanics check it out and they both said...
I bought a used 2003 Liberty which came with what looks like a 2.5" OTT lift... and I'm having a noise problem with it that might be ball joint contact...
The front end suspension makes a loud banging sound in many situations such as hitting a speed bump over 5 mph, and it happens very...
