Probably, but you are telling us that it does not slip in 2nd or 3rd gears with foot on floor??? Since you were driving it, your wife will tell you YOU broke it.
I agree that a contaminated system, or leaking system will not work. Expensive to replace, and normally easy to fix with proper shop equipment ($$$). As for heat, yea easier to fix before winter comes around.
I agree with these guys. Sounds electrical like some wire grounding or not working after a hard stop and such. Doubt mechanical at this time. FYI fluid drain and fill every 30K for me. (2011)
this is 1 year later, so i would have asked how many days after water did you flush. If months, then rust and crud issues. If next day and several drain and fills I would have thought it woul;d have worked.
It sounds like you have a bunch of questionable parts. I agree with replacing all pulleys, water pump. I strongly believe in replacing 20+ year old parts if you want a great vehicle. Replace all but AC compressor as it is expensive, but make certain it is not hurting your new parts. Sounds like...
tried the internet. I get all mine there

easy to do yourself AFTER removing seat. I assume bolts holding seat are not rusted/welded to body. good luck. Easy afternoon fix. pliers and maybe soldering iron (maybe).
horrible job but congratulations. Now seat bolts are rust free and come in and out easily in the future. To all readers, crack seat bolts if you haven't to allow you to remove seats when you need to. Apply nbo-seis if you gave any. Glad you have heater for winter. +++
my 2 cents. I also needed to flush the heater core . now time to change engine coolant as is old. no advise other than stuff in heater box leaves squirrels.
is there leaves or dead animals in there somewhere not allows full open/close? maybe box taken apart and not alligning on reassembly? sorry thats all i have.
agree. condensation and time for a new cheap muffler if money and time allows. agree to monitor radiator fluid level for a few drives. open cap when cold. is exhause whitish once warm, or a cloud of white when starting and cold? let us rule out fluid leak and rule in condensation.
do not buy before you know bad and not working. do not throw parts at it. could be clogged radiator. what happens if you throw heater on full force? I had a car where thermostat was in BACKWARDS by toyota shop. was fine at low torque but highway overheat. check thermostat direction. check fan...
I agree. sounds like clutch is not moving properly under foot pressure, so you cannot easily move shifter. Do not know age of vehicle, access details, but if this were my vehicle, I would never hesitate in changing the failure point be it slave cylinder or master, or if easier no fluid...
OK guys, we all know this. Clean everything possible with brake cleaner to start clean. Then you will see where it is coming from. Cost rags, towels, and brake cleaner. (no smoking)
