Tom, sounds like a once in a life time trip! I went ahead and bought the Iron Rock upgrade and installed it in the rain last night. It sure makes some terrible noises in the rear now! At least I can get it to the lift now and see what else happened after my son wrecked it. Thanks for the reply!
I had forgot how difficult it can be to deal with a salvage yard. Best offer so far is to buy a complete rear axle for $350. I can buy the complete IRO setup for a little more. There is a U-Pull in Kentucky that may be my next destination.
I'm in Cincinnati area. I'll check and few yards tomorrow and the IRO tonight. I was hoping Tom Mudd may have one, but I think he lives at the other end of the State.
THANKS!
My son wrecked my 2002 KJ and broke the rear ball stud mount bracket on the rear axle for the rear upper control arm. Part number 586AA95020 stamped on it. I can't seem to locate a used or new one.
Anybody have ideas?
I too Have been looking into the direct connection option the original poster ask about. Finding nothing I ordered the Grom BT3 to use with my RBP radio with Infinity Premium sound system in a '02. It was a dead end and didn't work. Here is the reply from Grom:
"You must have the infinity...

but yes sitting for a week and an alignment was all I did, except I did loosen everything and retightened with full weight on the ground. Side note: the original alignment was WAY off when I started.
I'm really loving this lift upgrade. I should have done it with Tom's list...
Alignment and new tires, one extra isolator on the driver rear (total of three), put about 50 miles on it and front is at 22 1/2" both sides and rear at 22 1/4" both sides. Finally starting to feel all this work was worth it!
I do have the poly bushings from Creative Steel. How hard is the steering linkage to disconnect/reconnect? It sure is in a tough place to work with. I need to just get in and do it, I'm in my "overthinking" mode.
Thanks for sharing the tips and links!
Any tips on replacing the steering rack bushings. Everyone of my friends and mechanics seems to think this is an overwhelming job. Now they have me scared!
Thanks in advance...
Tom and others, thanks for all the help. Still wish I had went the DIY and skipped the Frankenlift kit. If I had a strut compressor at work I would have. I can't typically leave a personal vehicle on a lift on a work day and if working on the driveway at home I keep thinking of the comfort of...
Before an alignment the front is at 23 3/4" both sides. Rears is at 21 1/2" driver side and 22" passenger side. This is with a total of two rear upper isolation pads per side. Since I don't have a winch maybe I should tie a couple of cider blocks to the front to help it settle in.
Any issues I can avoid with the extra lift? Ready to retire and I don't think it will get many miles on it.
Sure wish I had realized the AllJ,s kit was set up that way. I was ready to order the DIY parts you recommend but the pre assembled kit seemed easier. My bad....
I found a set of Moab 16" X 8" rims and I'm waiting on Falken Wildpeak AT3s 265/70 R16s.
The Frankenlift lifted the front more than the rear. I did the pinch weld mod, are there any other issues I should look for with the Frankenlift? Tom?
Thanks!
I took Toms advice to "man up", I asked for help....
With two of us we had it done in less than 1 hour. We did have to grind off about 1/16" of the back lip of the lower shock support. That allowed us to get it past the fender well lower edge.
Anyway, Thanks Tom!
P.S. So when All J's labels a...
Trying to finish my All J’s Frankenlift II install. This kit has pre-assembled front coilovers. The passenger (right) side installed relatively easy after reading and watching info offered here. Today was finishing up the driver side and I failed. Short story is the assembly is to close to...
Maybe my ugly wheel well is due to a messy grease job.
Besides the bumpstop notch, I assume I will have to do the pinch weld mod if I use Falken Wildpeak AT3W 265/70R16 on Moab 16 x 8 wheels?
Tom, thanks for the quick response. I have the rear and passenger front done. Still driver front...
Tom,
I'm in the Cincinnati area and really wanted to to bring it to you, but with a lift and all the tools available I gave it a go.
No cutting by me for the UCA's and the one I removed seemed original. I just replaced the bump stops and forgot about the v notch for the grease fitting. Only...
Before I ask a first post question, I want to thank everyone on this forum for the priceless resource of information here. I have fixed and upgraded a long list of items on a 2002 KJ that my Mom left me this year. I am mostly done installing a Frankenlift II with JBA upper control arms.
So...
