    2006 CRD improve MPG

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it when doing a websearch for how to save fuel with a 2.8 CRD...I have a UK 2005 spec 2.8 CRD Sport with the Mercedes NSG370 6 speed manual box. Diesel is expensive here in the UK (cheapest near me is £1.15 per litre...It costs about £80 ($100) to...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I would get rid of the plastic spare wheel cover, as I did:https://flic.kr/p/2i2p2dR

What did you do to your jeep today?

Today I worked out how to make my own semi-internal snorkel for my KJ...And it's actually very simple. Aftermarket snorkels, like the Safari, can cost almost £400...A huge sum for what is effectively a bit of plastic pipe. Mine will cost between £10-£30. I will keep the actual design details...

    Mileage/RPM/MPH Question

This old thread popped up during a web search, and again I was surprised that so many US KJ owners were happy with such high fuel consumption figures...17-19mpg being average for a 3.7 Petrol with an auto box...My 2.8 CRD with 6 speed manual box averages 32 US mpg but it can average 36 US mpg if...

    Help with alarm sensitivity.

Mine has been going off on it's own...It's parked in a front garden, away from traffic and the weather is warm and dry...

Strange problem with my 2.8 CRD...

2005....But how hard is it to change the crankshaft sensor on the VM 2.8 Diesel?

Strange problem with my 2.8 CRD...

I have a strange problem with my KJ 2.8 CRD. When the weather is warm the engine cuts out randomly and it wont start again until I leave it to cool down for at least 10 minutes. I had just got my KJ MOT'd and was on my way home when the engine cut...

    What Battery?

I went out and checked which battery I had in my 2005 2.8 CRD KJ and I got a bit of a shock...It was a 113...a weedy little 50AH battery with a pathetic cranking power of 500CCA...Yet is is expected to crank over heavy 2.8 litre Diesel! It's working fine now, but in the Winter, when the cold...

    Possible Recall 2002-2007?

Am I right in thinking this only effects gas powered KJ's, not diesel powered ones? If so, then I need not worry in my CRD. :emoticondancer:

Lightweight GRP bonnet/hood for the KJ???

I opened my bonnet to top up my power steering fluid and just as I had finished the job the bonnet came crashing down in an instant, BANG!, with no warning whatsover! If my head had been under it at the time, as it was a few seconds earlier, I could have been killed or at the very least...

    CB antenna Mount KJ

Not a good place to put any TX antenna as the peak RF is level with your head and RF is dangerous to living tissue! Plus it's below the main ground plane (the roof) which will negatively effect both the antenna tuning and the radiation pattern, greatly reducing the range of your CB on both TX...

    wheels and tires for kj

Probably the dodgy used car dealer I got it off...Before he had it, it was a road tax exempt mobility vehicle. He has also put the wrong battery in it...a 113, which has a capacity of only 50AH and a puny 500CCA...Starts the 2.8 VMD ok now but come the winter it will be a different matter. I...

    Required Fluid Types

Wrong, everybody here want's Diesels, it's the government that doesn't want us to have them! And they are only banning the sale of new Diesel cars from 2030 onwards. Besides, if the government scrappage scheme is anything like the one they had in France, I will end up with 8-10 thousand quid...

    Required Fluid Types

Probably because there are not as many CRD engines in the States as there are in the UK or Europe...You can get 2.8 CRD engines here from £500-£800 ($670 to $1000)...Cheaper than 3.7 gas guzzler engines, because fuel here is expensive so most people here buy cars with Diesel engines.

KJ 2.8 CRD battery, not what I was expecting!

Today the thought occurred to me that I don't know what battery my KJ has, so I started researching batteries for the KJ. After reading several forums the consensus seemed to be that the 096 was the battery most recommended for the KJ. I wondered if I could fit a more powerful replacement if...

    Required Fluid Types

Have you checked your exhaust for blue-white smoke? That is a sure sign you are burning oil in the cylinders. And if that is happening then you either have a cracked head or block, a blown head gasket or your pistons rings are badly worn and letting too much oil past them. Petrol (Gasolene)...

They only specify 6000 miles if your using plain mineral oil...Use fully synth and you can probably double the mileage between oil changes as it is a much longer lasting lubricant.
