Hey folks, I'm a fng to this site.

Welcome to the forum, rist! I don't know much myself, but the folks here have been very helpful when I've had problems. There is a wealth of information in the threads, too.

Personally all I can do is speculate. I would think it's like the motor, once it's replaced it would be good for a long time. Seems like the stock transmissions have been a problem for the Libby's. Maybe tommudd has a better idea on tranny life?

    Liberty KJ Roof Cross Bars

Looks good! Who is "pull-a-part"? What an Okie would call a salvage yard?

FWIW, just had to replace the engine on my '02 last summer. Previous owner had the tranny rebuilt and rest of the body is in good shape. Paid off & I need it for winter travel (if we'd ever get some snow around here). Anyway, we called around inquiring about a rebuild but found the cost was...

    42in light bar

Yes! Pics please! Have been seriously considering the same myself. What's the trick on wiring - i.e. how do you get it inside the vehicle?

    Jeep starts, won't stay running

Update - The Jeep wouldn't start because I ran it low (very low) on oil. (Shame on me, I know). Previous owner didn't care for it well either. I think the motor got locked up bc low oil and wouldn't start. When we finally got it to start, the knocking from the engine was VERY loud. At 129k...

    Jeep starts, won't stay running

Limited knowledge about the inner workings of a motor, here - Can the problem not be fixed with a rebuild? Or does it damage the block enough that's nky an option? Sounds like much the same problem as you described. I think it would be difficult to find a donor - not knowing what's been...

    Jeep starts, won't stay running

Looks like you're right about the code & key thing... had Pop a Lock come out to reset the key (my dad talked to someone at an auto parts store & they recommended it- obviously we did not do our diagnostics like we should have before he came). The key was not the issue. He floored the gas and it...

    Jeep starts, won't stay running

I drive the jeep 1-3 times/week to work. She's done great until this morning, no signs of problems at all. Starts & runs fine, fuel pump works great. Today- started the Jeep but it died in about 2 seconds. Tried again, combined with pumping the gas pedal but it still died. Drove another...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Had my new tires put on! Happy day! Greatly improved the looks and functionality. Went with the Falken A/T3W and love them so far. The guy that installed them must have been extra careful bc the plastidip wasn't even messed up!

What did you do to your jeep today?

I have often wondered how to improve the lighting in the back seat. Good idea. Are they wired in?

Thanks a million! I certainly put it in low but didn't consider 4 low. I do appreciate the suggestion. Stay warm up there!

    Winter '17 / '18

Post your winter pictures here! This is my second winter to drive the Libby, and the first one with any measurable precip. My knees were knocking, coming down our steep hill on ice this morning as I passed a car in the ditch, but the Libby assured me she was built for this. Not a single slip...

    Tire Q's

Sounds like a great option, thanks. Can you drive on dry pavement with the ice studs? Need them for the drive to work in the morning and it thaws out during the day?

    Tire Q's

Huh. Had no idea all season was an option, glad I asked. Care to expound? Or maybe examples of such?

    Plasti Dipped wheels!

Uh oh... so do you think Hibdon tires is going to want to install these things for me? Or reckon they've had enough problems to shy away from it? I'm a country kid & been to the local tire shop enough to know the basics. It seems there isn't much common sense out there any more.

    Tire Q's

I have scoured this section of the forum and found lots of great info, but have 2 questions still. I'll be buying some tires from TireRack (thanks for the link!) to prep for Oklahoma "winter". Don't need anything fancy, just stock size on stock rims. Expected driving conditions for new...
