Got the head off. #4 exhaust valve wiggles (middle cylinder). Guide is gone. 40,000 miles on new motor that was installed in 2010. Jeep was losing water and oil. Questions..
1.) Do the pistons look normal? lot of build up..why? I thought middle one should be shiny from water going in...
I used a camshaft wrench tool and tried to loosen bolt. Someone used a shit load of lock tight or torqued it way past 44pds. Snapped the holding pin on tool. Question..can I just take all cam bolts loose and tilt it off chain? The guide is busted on #4 exhaust valve and the head is cracked...
Putting new head on Rt. or passenger side. Was told I needed special tool #8429. It would not sit flush due to bolt interference. I had to drill out middle to make it work. Spleens on holder would not cover chain to hold it until I drilled out middle. Any one else seen this. 2002 KJ 3.7 v6
Picked up a 2002 Jeep Liberty to rebuild. Have the motor tore down. New to site. Cant figure out how to start a new thread to ask questions? I guess I will learn. Glad to be here. Lots of good info.
