Another "radiator fan not working" thread.

New radiator came in today (a day ahead of schedule). I took my sweet time installing it. Could've had it done in less than an hour, but I had no motivation. It got done, though. Everything seems fine now, EXCEPT for the white smoke still coming from the exhaust. So, I bought one of these...

I do have that tool to pressurized the system. I used it just the other day and everything seemed fine. That rad leak must have JUST happened.

Ok! Bolted in the thermostat and filled the coolant... bled the system.... No overheating this time :) Hot heat - that's good. Upper rad hose still gets pretty hot but no boiling this time. Lower rad hose is now heating up. All good signs. The rad fan FINALLY kicked in by itself! The...

Another "radiator fan not working" thread.

The new thermostat from the dealer did come with a gasket, but the gasket does NOT have that registration key - although I can see where it's supposed to go in the thermostat housing. So, here's the results so far.... I'm pretty sure this is in backwards: I'm not even going to run it...

Multiple CEL codes after re-installing engine.

Will do. I'm updating the other thread now.

Sorry for the double post. In re-reading your post, I'm wondering what the registration key is. Is that the little metal bobbly thing in the thermostat or is it an actual number/icon?

I can try that first thing in the AM. I'll report back what happens.

Another "radiator fan not working" thread.

I've been wondering. It's brand new from Rock Auto, but I had to shoe horn it into the thermostat housing to make it fit. So maybe.

Very well. The water pump has, according to the previous owner, already been replaced. I find any blockage hard to believe because I flushed everything while the engine was out. Hmmm......

05 Liberty 3.7L, auto. Now that that's out of the way, I'll get right to it. The ONLY way I can get the radiator fan to turn on is by disconnecting the CTS. Wife got home tonight, parked in the driveway, and noticed the temp gauge was almost in the red. Upper rad hose boiling, lower rad...

Multiple CEL codes after re-installing engine.

I did a coolant pressure test this morning. It passed. I also went ahead and bought a brand new radiator cap. Then, I turned the key and cracked the bleeder on the upper radiator hose. I must have just been in panic mode last night because coolant IS flowing. No idea why it overflowed so...

Multiple CEL codes after re-installing engine.

I can do that. I'm also a bit more concerned about the coolant at the moment (now that I found that ONE sensor unplugged). After the test drive last night, the upper rad hose was BOILING hot, bottom hose was ice cold, and the coolant reservoir was spewing coolant everywhere. If the...

Multiple CEL codes after re-installing engine.

Double and triple checked, eh? Tell me when you see it. After plugging it back in and turning the key, the Jeep fired RIGHT UP, and the P0330/0325 Knock Sensor codes immediately disappeared. The bucking at WOT has also disappeared. All other codes remain, but I'm guessing some of...

Multiple CEL codes after re-installing engine.

Howdy. 05 Liberty Renegade, 3.7L, automatic, 127K. The whole reason I pulled the engine in the first place was because of a rotted freeze plug. Now that all the freeze plugs are replaced, engine is back in, and just tonight I tried starting it. It took waaayyy too many cranks to start up...

How to diagnose a bad front diff?

Good news! I was able to finally turn the key after two grueling days of wrenching (and waiting on parts). It did start, but it took waayyy too many cranks to do so. Immediately, I got a check engine light and abs light. Ironically, upon test drive, the grinding noise up front is gone LOL...

Oil pan removal while front differential is out.

Dude, I'm telling you, I had found that the one day, I was all set to order it, then I went back and it was GONE. It's water under the bridge now, but at least we all have the link for future reference.

Yes, that's the common one. Good luck finding a rebuild kit for the other end.

Oil pan removal while front differential is out.

Absolutely. We need it driveable and inspected before the snow hits. That could be any day now. The last biggest thing that is preventing a sticker is the windshield. It has sizeable crack along the passenger side - which will pass PA inspection - but we would also have to get it inspected...

Oil pan removal while front differential is out.

More good progress today. This heap jeep is nearing completion :-) The front diff is completely bolted in, axles, fresh gear oil, and I even put the front bracket bolts so it's easier to remove next time. Front driveshaft is in (and, it's brand new . Couldn't find a rebuild...

Oil pan removal while front differential is out.

Well, freeze plugs are in. The engine is now back between the fenders (with new mounts!), and I'm currently in the process of putting everything back together. Too bad it's close to effing Thanksgiving and I really have no time to myself until after the useless holidays.
