    2006 Liberty CRD

Also, just to add, Chrysler considers 80-240* the "normal" temperature range for the 545RFE. Above 240 will trigger the "trans temp" light and send the transmission in to limp mode, locking the torque converter while in any gear and above 25 mph.

    2006 Liberty CRD

I'm not worried about the transmission hitting 210 or so in second gear (unlocked) during a climb. The Hayden 678 is fairly large and about the biggest one can fit behind the grille without extensive modification. I still have the factory heat exchanger in the radiator before the line goes...

    2006 Liberty CRD

The powerstop brake pads and rotors I got through Rock Auto did the trick. They stop well with very little dust. Time will tell how long they last-- I only have about 2k miles so far. Definitely far less brake dust than before with Autozone in-house brand heavy-duty stuff.

    Towing with a CRD?

I know I'm a little late to this, but: A Miata on a car hauler will be no problem. Trailer brakes and an aux transmission cooler are advisable. Edit to add: I have over 1k miles on this combination including mountains and stop-and-go traffic.

    2006 Liberty CRD

I haven't kept up this page as well as I have on some other forums I frequent, but I thought I would share my experience towing with my CRD: What you can see is a 2.5" lift, Firestone Destination A/T's (LT 245/75/16), Detours USA winch mount with an XRC8 winch. What you don't see is a...

    detour-usa offroad kj backbone

I'm also running a backbone; have had it for a year now. NO complaints. It's solid, mounts solid, and it's 1/4" plate steel reinforced in the right places. If you buy one, you won't be disappointed... especially at the price point. It's a nice alternative for anyone wanting a winch but not...

    Jeep Liberty Future?

I'm probably in the minority, but I specifically looked at Jeep because I wanted a rear/4wd compact SUV that had a decent tow capacity. I AVOIDED the CR-V and RAV4 for the reason that they're really nothing more special than an AWD car with larger tires.

    rear cargo shelf

I did mine, but added a light under the shelf. The light has a little switch on the backside to turn it on and off. It just unplugs with a simple 12V plug-in if I need to take the shelf out.

Updated pics: RICE! How they work: Also, courtesy lights: Rear power outlets (under the driver's seat): Got rid of the dog cage and built a shelf: It just lifts out: And the light unplugs:

Adding lights to bumper of 06 Limited.

I measured and drilled into the top of the frame rails as a mount point. This was before a Detours winch mount, so the lights have moved a little since.

    Rocky Road vs JBA UCA?

FWIW, I run the RRO upper control arms and have for about 6 months now. Yes, the grease fittings are impossible to reach without a 90* bend. That being said, the arms are very beefy, arrived quickly, and I had no problem ordering or tracking them. They installed very easily (except for...

    2006 Liberty CRD

Hello all, Obviously, I'm new here, but I've been lurking for a while and decided to post up. I started with a humble 2006 CRD: It stayed that way for a long time until I got sideswiped. A good friend of mine upgraded his 2005 Wrangler Rubicon and I got his old wheels and tires. I also...

    17" Rims Getting Eaten Away!

FYI, toothpaste will help remove rust prior to polishing. It has to have fluoride in it, though; the fluoride bonds with the ferrous oxide molecules and it washes away. It should leave you with a nice, clean surface to polish.
