    Towing Post Lift

Drop hitches are quite safe - they're used all the time especially by all the guys driving the "compensation trucks" lifted up to the moon (compensating for...?? :happy175:) and larger work trucks pulling box trailers. Any of the brand names - Reese, DrawTite, Curt, etc. have good...

    Towing Post Lift

Yep, that ^^^^^ I towed a UHaul 6X12 dual axle from Northern Ohio to Nashville and back a few years ago. At the time the KJ had the full OME/Bilstein lift so it was near 4" over stock at the time and I used my standard 2 inch drop receiver. As you can see in the pic the trailer was slightly...

I installed a Spartan locker today.

Sorry, been traveling so I know this is a late reply... Just read my post #16 above and realized that I left a very important word out of the first sentence. I've corrected it for future readers... What I meant above is to buy an extra cross pin BOLT not a new cross pin. You're right - a cross...

I installed a Spartan locker today.

When installing a lunchbox in the rear, grab a cross pin bolt before you get started. When I put in the PowerTrax the head of the cross pin sheared right off when I was taking out the original spider gears and I didn't have another pin. Thankfully the local Jeep parts department was open on...

I installed a Spartan locker today.

I had a PowerTrax in my '03 and the bloody thing would go anywhere. There are circumstances where you really need to be careful - like on a snow covered street or parking lot - but once I got used to mine I didn't really notice it anymore. It worked well even when my SelecTrac was in Full Time...

    2002 3.7l engine parts compatability

Short answer - no, the '02 won't swap into an '04 directly without changing the cam sprocket and reluctor ring from the blown '04 into the '02 from your brother. Read through the Engine Swap Overview to get an idea of how this works - except in reverse in your case. Bob

    3.7 oil pan removal

^^Both of these^^ The oil pan can be removed from the engine but can't really be taken out from under the engine without also removing the oil pickup - which Conundrum stated. But the oil pickup is hidden behind the windage tray/gasket. A REAL pain, so... Your best bet is to take the engine...

    engine leak

The new owner is a lifelong Jeep guy but first time owning a KJ. I would have loved to sell it to you since you know so much of it's history... :emotions34: Bob

What did you do to your jeep today?

I did the same about a year ago but unfortunately I needed to sell the the KJ :blah: But the upside is I love my Hemi Commander - even put an OME/Bilstein spring lift on it just like I did with the KJ a-way back when. Lots of aftermarket support for the Hemi, and since the Commander has the...

Is rock lizard still in business? Looking for steel bumper for 05

Sorry for line jumping... This was mine that was modeled after Tom's Kilimanjaro though mine never quite had the same cool factor  Damn I miss it... Bob

What did you do to your jeep today?

I love driving on roads like that! Not sure why I like it so much other than it's often smoother and certainly quieter. Bob

Gut feeling? Antifreeze in the oil.

Looks like that engine was overheated at some point in it's prior life - bummer :Insane: Happy to hear the dealer is stepping up - that really shows their integrity. You'll have a fine running KJ when it's all done! Bob

    Engine Rebuild Advice or Suggestions?

^^^Great advice right there ;) Also get a new set of head bolts as they are designed to stretch at the shoulder - reusing them puts you in danger of a bolt breaking when torquing it down. The engine R&R on the Liberty is a pretty straightforward proposition - if the body is in good shape...

    Timing question

That is correct. You'll need to hold the cam in position to take the chain off. Other option is to remove the cam sprocket and let the cam turn, replace the chain on the sprocket, then rotate the cam back to position. Not sure how difficult that would be since you'll be compressing some of...

    got hit by 18 wheeler

So thankful you're OK!! A friend was driving the interstate recently and hit a patch of ice, KJ turned sideways, caught traction again and rolled three times and landed on the passenger side. He climbed out the driver's window, stood on top of it waving his arms to warn oncoming traffic and...

What did you do to your jeep today?

You're gonna LOVE those JBA coilovers - I know i did :waytogo: Bob
  19. TwoBobsKJ

"might" be selling probably the lowest mileage 2002 Liberty in the country.

If you're going with coilovers might I suggest the JBA system? I ran those with the ARB and it was a sweeeeet ride - amazingly smooth and controlled with the ability to adjust the front up or down depending on my mood. And you'd pay a bit less than $1500 - of course I did buy a set of JBA UCA's...

    Last days of the KJ

Dang Smitty, hate to see your KJ go - you have a very nice build and have obviously taken good care of her. A Grand Cherokee with the Hemi can be a lot of fun and a TON of aftermarket support for it - the Commander is basically the same vehicle and I'm enjoying my Hemi way too much at times ;)...
