I just realized that you have miss
matched shocks
2 good quality
2 not so much
Probably the fronts that are to mushy
And if you purchased a "kit"
how did you end up with miss matched shocks?
I can assure you that you did not pay $700
for 4 springs and 4 5150's unless you bought it seperate
and within the past month
5150's retail for $150 each give or take
And the are dropping them from the line up
Not to mention that they are a "cross flow design"
and are a ***** to get to...
What Bilsein shocks came with a spring based kit
that cost $700?
My guess is 5100's
Which are not bad but are also there "bottom of the line"
What problem do you have?
They have a life time warranty ,on the 5100's
and you can buy them with different valvings for
a softer or stiffer rides...
3.5" of lift and factory control arms
Wow that is a great lift
And you adjusted you pinion how?
Oh yeah the JK is so great it does not need the pinion
angle adjusted
And I bet it rides great
With the LCA's at a 45* angle and twin tube shocks
Just guessing at the shocks and being obnoxious...
And you paid for quantity not quality
The AEV kit is all but control arms
Clayton makes good quality HD arms
Yeah it will end up costing $2000+
You paid $700 for what
Springs and Shocks?
My shocks will end up costing over $600
The springs another $360+
Long arms ? Not sure building my...
To the OP
If you want a good quality bolt on lift
Look at Rubicon express
For even better quality look at Clayton Offroad
AEV has probably the best coils but no
control arms
But if you want to get the best of both worlds
and can live with a non adult sized lift
Pick up the 2.5" AEV kit ,$900...
You do realize that there is very little difference
between the suspension on a TJ or a JK
The stock shocks are even the same length
The difference is in how the components are mounted
Learn to weld and the TJ is the same
I did it to mine and now I am upping my game
Even considering...
I love it
"adult sized lift"
Bigger lift and bigger tires always makes
the Jeep more capable
Yet for some reason my TJ on 33's makes
Jeeps on 35's or bigger look silly all day long
and just think
when I add the tube fenders I will clear 35's
All this on a "modified" 2 1/2" lift
Which by all...
There are so many lifts for wranglers out there it can
cause you to get a head ache
I know the R/K high end coilover lift is good
But then again so is using a long are kit from Clayton
and coilovers from Fox or King
You could even get the long arms from Rustys
I guess what I am saying is that as...
While on this subject
I have been looking into converting my TJ to coilovers
Thes can be "built" to many many configurations
The down side is they are all eye to eye
With some fab work I see no reason why you could not
run a true coilover on the front and for that matter the rear
of a KJ
again...
I am here now for the same reason I came here
to start with
That is the hope of 1 day finding people who really
use there Jeep for what it was designed
Instead I find people who talk about it
But complain about their Jeep making funny noises
or the funny noises other Jeeps make
The best...
Wow
"the type of noise"
Really? This is the best we got?
The only noises I hear in my Jeeps are/were
1) the sound of M/T's slapping pavement
and/or
2) the sound of wind whipping through an open window
or open top or doors removed
Sorry guys but the "type of noise" thing is very
weak
As to...
Just drove the TJ for the first time in 5 weeks
Is it s speed demon? No it is a Jeep
Can is get 33's to chirp/spin on dry pavement?
Yup from a dead stop
And remember that it is locked ,auto and 3.73's
But the KJ could bearly do that with 245/75's and
Open diff.
Yeah the 4.0 has torque
and I...
Maybe
But in a large group of say 15+ rigs
Putting the wrong sized rig in the wrong group
could and does cause problems
Most times the folks hosting the ride catch grief
for allowing me to ride the "modified" trail
when someone else's Jeep is "bigger"
More than Just size
But until they...
Funny
I have a 10 year old 4.0 that gets abused
It has seen the revlimiter more than a few times
which is said to be the cause of the rear main
leak ,I have NO drips
It also makes torque where I want it ,way way low RPM
which the newer engines do not do
I know locally they do the same thing
33+ or better for X ,Y & Z trails
33+ and 1 locker for these trails
35+ and 1 locker and little concern for body damage
for this trail
I roll on 33" tall tires and am locked front and rear
they know me and know my TJ
They know I will not be a hold up so I...
When we had our KJ and I had
"hurricane duty" for work
all I did was ratchet strap 3 5 gallon cans
to the roof rails with a towel under them
between the full tank and the extra I was good
for just over 500 miles ,wind drag killed me
I would NEVER put a gas can inside a closed space
that I plan...
No joke
We just sold the VW and bought a 2012 Pathfinder
and I am finding out that there are a boat load of
interchangeable parts across the Nissan truck line
guys are even putting the crawler gears for the
Xterra t-case into pathfinders
Had I known ahead of time I would have gotten the...
