I will only assume you never owned a pre '03 wrangler
Not a CJ
Those all cam with the TF9XX
And the last version was the TF999
which was dropped in '03
Not a complicated trans
Not a HD trans
But in a wrangler the only way to kill it was with water
Extending the breather requires...
I think the big difference is the transmission
The 45RFE is a "truck" transmission
The 42RLE is a "minivan" transmission
No ever plans to tow with their minivan
so the transmission is not geared for that
This is also what makes them not so good
Off road
To the OP
We towed my TJ wheels down with the KJ
It weighs in at 3900#
It has no brakes and the aerodynamics of a brick
Worse than your trailer
I could easily pull it at 70 in OD and get 15ish mpg
Pulled it 200+ miles 1 way more than once
Braking was not bad at all and I found the go to be
ok...
Unless I am mistaken the KJ rear shaft is the same as the
TJ at the rear yoke
Remove 4 nuts and the u bolts
Then duct tape and BIG zip ties to hold on the end caps
and hold the drive shaft up
This is how we have towed several TJ's wheels down
but with bent drive shafts or busted T-case
I am interested in seeing this work
So much so that I would be willing to fab up the brackets
for free
All based on your demensions
You could even give them to me in metric and I could
still handle it
As long as you use the OE upper strut mount and nothing else
then no ,otherwise yes
The main function of bump stops is over compression of the
suspension components ,with the softer coils you will be fine
I did not have them on my '03 and it had the Med duty coils
at all 4 corners
The...
Rule #1 do not wheel alone
Rule #2 see rule #1
That being said
Find the local club ,I am sure there is 1
Hook up with them and you will be good to go
we have a local "rescue team" and basically any place in SE
Louisiana you get stuck there is some one to help
I posted this in another topic but I will put it here as well
any thought to a true coilover
They come in many lengths and can be "built to spec"
Even shock valving can be customized
They are all eye to eye so adapters would need to be built
but that is easy and cheep
Your problem as stated above will only be cured
with a better radiator that has a good trans cooler
built in
You have the 42RLE trans and the 1st gear is not low
enough so to make it go the trans "slips" and thus generates
heat
You know this however
If you lower your final drive gear ,4wd...
So this afternoon as I was finishing up a pair
of eye to stem adapters for someone
1 of the guys in the shop told me that my commitment
to Jeeping was a "bacon and eggs commitment"
(Scratched my head)
He went on to explain that the chicken only participates
in the breakfast but the pig is...
Let me spell it out
You have a JK with a half azzed lift
and mall terrains
You come around talking about your
"adult sized lift" and "man tires"
Well there are KJ's on this board that are much
more modded and more capable than you JK
So I would suggest you get you "adult size lift"...
Sorry
They do not recommend after market bumpers
no where on their web site
besides that has no bearing on the shocks
You still have yet to tell me what lift you have
Is it a RK 3.5" or something else?
I even doubt it is their 2.5" coil based lift
As it comes with front LCA's
And you should...
Helped install their TJ coilover kit a few years back
not bad at all
Oh and I hate to bring you more bad news
But if you have Teraflex front shocks
As stated in post #28 back on page 3
Then you have Twin tube shocks ,sorry
And from the looks I got at the price
You also got ripped off
~$65 per...
Impossible
Nothing is better than his JK off road
I mean come on he has a 3" lift
adjustable upper rear control
And 2 different shocks
1 of them being twin tube
and?????
What are you talking about?
You can install Genrite tube fenders up front
and their full corners rear with a 3" flare on both and clear
33's with OE length bump stops on a TJ
Add a very small ,2" or so, lift and extend the bump stops
and there you have rooms for 35's
But you still need...
